So I've been missing my keyboard ever since I got rid of it... a Roland Juno D. It made cool sounds but kinda felt like a toy. Then I borrowed a friends extra Yamaha keyboard and it felt like AND sounded like a toy. Well friends, Craigslist delivered again. I found an older (but mint) Alesis QS8.1 (88 weighted key synth) and a black widow loaded 130 watt Peavey KB300 (also mint) for less than five bills total today! I had to do some driving but man oh man, does it sound fantastic. The piano and organ setting are unreal... especially the organs. With all of the loop videos and jamming I've been doing I've been wanting to add some keys to it for texture and far out stuff. I can't really play the piano but can hack around well enough. In any case, it's a great sounding and feeling set up... and for a pretty good deal I think. :D

I know it's not guitar related but just thought I'd share... hopefully I can get a jam vid put together this weekend playing some guitar with some sweet keys added to the mix!

Keyboards? Synths? What deviltry is this? They'll be letting drummers in here next!

Just kidding, I'm a bit of a keys dabbler myself. The pianos on the Alesis are top notch and there's a lot of nice clicky dirty Hammond sounds in there too, you got a good deal.

Shouldn't this thread be more rightfully titled "NKD"?

In this case, New Gear Day. :P

Congrats on the new finds, I actually have an Alesis QS8.1 sitting next to me right now. It's a great synth, a little heavy but the sounds are real nice. I like how the sides are actually made of wood, it's a nice touch.

There's a new Yamaha PSR E233 sitting in a carton waiting to be opened as soon as my new study is completed. Anyone can see that ArJay's just green with envy.

no joke... it's for real. The only joke is my playing... it's endlessly depressing to consider that I'll never be able to play like this guy but I can pretend. Wow, I'm going to catch a ration of you know what for this... first, a keyboard thread, then a Dead video. Yeah, Brent here pretty much kills it... it may make a Dead fan of you yet.
