But this thing still plays great, so I can see why they were always a higher price. I scored. I traded just about $125 or so worth of misc gear and parts for it.

Actually Guild solid body electrics were highly prized by and very popular with touring pros because they were very stable on the road holding a setup well. They were relatively light, well balanced and easily intonated. That goes for their solid body basses also. They held a setup from coast to coast and didn't require bringing a tech along to address climate change issues. Partly this was because of good quality hardware and better woods than commonly seen. I would have no problem with owning a Guild solid body bass, but I don't think I'd want to mess with their hollow bodied ones which were very popular. I'd rather have the solid body ones.

I sent an email to them, since it seems to be a fairly rare guitar. I'd love to know more about the original owner...

ahaha, I was originally going to just give him a hundred dollar bill, but I decided to thin my parts stash.

Wow that's one versatile guitar! WHat was that second riff at about one minute in? It's familiar but I can't quite place it!

I'm not a versatile player, though. It just crunches well.
