I noticed a post this morning (on an Elvis forum) reminding me that yesterday was the 57th anniversary of the first appearance on the Milton Berle show. Since doing the page on the ship over 5 years ago I've been saving some more pix from various fans and sources as I've seen them overtime and decided to add them today (a day late) in commemoration.

See http://scottymoore.net/USSHancock.html#MP
and then scroll up for the history if you missed it.

The link has been added to the scrapbook section also http://scottymoore.net/scrapbook.html if you haven't seen that before.

Jim

This section is probably of little interest to most fans but its some area history I didn't cover when I did the original page. Its self explanatory when/if you read it.

Kind of off topic, but are those F-86 Sabres in the background?

I didn't know they flew those off carriers...

Just answered my own question...

They had a Navy variant called the FJ-3 Fury...
