Apperantly Richie Sambora left the band yesterday in Calgary Alberta. The band played on and cited personal reasons, but sources close to the band say that there is bad blood between Jon and Richie.

No surprise there. I can't stand that punk either.

Last time he went down for rehab, Phil X took his place.

Too bad, he's a good guitarist and a much better singer than people give him credit for.

I have to agree with you there and in the end it is the fans paying their hard earned bucks to see a complete line-up.

I gotta agree with you on that score. I own the solo CD he did years ago. The one on which Clapton guested on the track "Mr. Bluesman". I never cease to enjoy listening to it and wonder how some of these artist's manage frack their lives up their noses when so many of us would have enjoyed a better shot at the brass ring. Maybe Sambora ought to take inspiration from his influence and find his way to The Crossroads Center and help.

Hmmmmm. I see what you did there.

IIRC Richie had at least two solo CDs and I think I have both of them here in the Music Room. I just checked and found Stranger In This Town from 1991 and Undiscovered Soul from 1996 - both on the Mercury label - that's a pretty good time spread. I haven't listened to them in a while, guess it's time to turn them on again.

Didn't Richie flirt with leaving Bon Jovi several times in the 90s when the band was floundering?

I think it was around the time Jon fired Alec the original bass player.

I wasn't aware of the latter. Is it worth the purchase?

Personly I think that Richie's solo work far exceeds what Jon and the boys put out.

That was my thinking when I first listened to 'Stranger in Town.' I like his guitar playing. Consider that he was guested by Clapton on his first venture. Was able to secure a Signature Strat endorsement by Fender. Yet he was satisfied with his place in that band rather than striking out on his own. :?

Richie had a decent career going when keyboardist, David Bryan and JBJ were gigging in a soul/r&b/cover band called "Atlantic City Expressway" back in '78.

They all got together as "Bon Jovi" in '83 and David Bryan is featured in the current MF catalog's interview of the month.
