A good portion of the guitars made in the 70's.

Now there's a guitar with balls - literally!

(I see that Bon Jovi beat it (I mean, me to it)) ;)

First Act guitars are horrible. Then again you have to start somewhere.

My first guitar-a plywood acoustic bought new from Montgomery Wards when I was a kid (I think it was Romanian made) back in the early '70's. It was REALLY awful. It absolutely refused to play in tune past the 5th fret, and it was none too good in the first 5. It wasn't me-several years after I got a decent guitar and undid the damage this guitar did, I found this guitar again at my parents house, and tried playing it. I think that the frets were spaced out by eye or guesswork, but it was definitely a guitar designed by someone to guarantee that kids would quit playing as soon as they tried to.

I reduced it to splinters. It was far too crappy to fall into anybody else's hands.

Kids are SO lucky nowadays, even $99 will get you a guitar now that is a thousand times better than THAT one.

Monkey Wards Guitars! That's pretty funny. I had a Sears strat once upon a time, it was pretty bad. You're right though, the Chinese guitar makers are putting out some decent guitars these days for very little money. The Chinese Epi's are pretty nice. Kids can easily get a decent guitar to start out with these days.

Epiphone is not that bad actually. Its bad compared to Fender and Gibson but really good compared to companies like First Act and Nova
