Has there ever been a one-piece, all rosewood neck, or a neck and fret board that's rosewood? If not, then how come? Is it not cost effective, or not a preferred choice for neck material?

Thanks to Ceri for the fret installation demo.

I love this innovation and I want a Jazz Bass with a neck like that.

To answer BassPaul's question:
There have been all rosewood necks made. PRS routinely makes necks like that.

Fender made a Telecaster that was all rosewood back in the 60's that George Harrison played on the Let it Be album.

I don't know how good they sound, but George Harrison gave his RW Tele away! If that's any indication.

I think Fender and other guitar manufacturers kinda know what sounds good by now and I think the traditional wood combos sound the best.
I love the look of that wood bound inlaid fingerboard! Wow! It immediately makes the guitar look like it was made as a custom piece by a very talented luthier.

We've discussed the history of that build and what followed several times. George gave the guitar to Delaney Bramlett as a gift in appreciation for a favor Delaney did for George. There's been nothing said to suggest that George has issues with the sonic qualities of the RW Tele. I had wondered why George would dispose of such a unique build from Fender. Someone suggested that these artists were being fed gear from every corner and there was likely no sentiment on George's part with respect to it being a keeper.

Yeah, I've seen a website about Beatles guitars. I remember the one you're talking about, now. I imagine he probably had guitars coming out the rear, and I read some of those were ripped off, too.

Looks like a fine innovation.
I always liked bound fingerboards :D
Maybe it could be retrofitted to existing Strats of our own.

Joe Walsh plays one in the Eagles Farewell I Tour DVD, I believe on Hotel California.

John Mayer has an all rosewood Strat nicknamed Rosie.

It's not very common, to say the least. Rosewood is expensive and rather heavy.

Yeah, that's the kind of visual support I was hoping for. Beauties they are...
