I am quitting bass and guitar. They are too hard to play for me and my skill level has been degrading in the past few months. I'd like to thank you guys for all of the support and help you've given me since I first joined the forums.

Mike, I am 59 years old. I received my first guitar on my 11th birthday. When I was 25 I started playing bass. So I've been doing this awhile.
There are times, even today, when I feel the same as you, but I work through them. To me it's just part of the process. Those "dead" times seem to be followed up with some really good progress.
I've spent most of an afternoon working on a single bass run and just getting nothing but frustrated. Get up the next morning and nail it. I've even woke up in the middle of the night after dreaming on how to play a certain part of a song that has been giving me problems......and nail it. I've even had to leave the bass packed up for a few days.
Just trying to let you know how frustrating and strange it is at times for all of us.
You can always quit. Why not give it some more time?

April Fools ... or what..??

If not, I'd hate to see you just up and quit. All the time, sweat and money invested will be wasted. Perhaps just take a little break.

It is supposed to be hard, but the reward is being able to make your own music.

Also, maybe trying to take up both Bass & Guitar at the same time is too much to take on. Lose one for now.

But, if none of this is convincing, go ahead and move onto whatever is next for you and best of luck !

cheers!

 April Fools Day should never fall on a Monday. Didn't even think about it when I made my previous post.
