In about 3 months of playing bass, my skill has gotten better. I developed more on bass in 3 months than in about 1.5 years on guitar. I don't know what happened, but I have just been getting a lot better at it and more comfortable with it than I am with guitar.

I will keep trying to learn guitar, but I will practice bass a little more now.

Hello Mike, I think therefore I am, René Descartes been on your reading list of late? Cogito ergo sum a bass player might or might not be the bass player different then guitar player practicing his bass guitar and then walking over to his keyboard ,etc.

My brother took the same road -- started on the guitar, decided he liked (and was better at) the bass instead. I suspect it's a common tale.

Rawk on!

I'm sure that some people are predisposed to be more proficient on one instrument moreso than another and obviously you have an aptitude for bass.A prime example of this is the little 5 year old boy from Vancouver,British Columbia who recently wowed audiences at Carnegie Hall with his incredible virtuosity on the piano.Even though this little guy can't read music,he somehow absorbs the music from some wild form of osmosis and picks up the most complicated and demanding of keyboard pieces.

Yes. When I abandoned violin and announced I was going to play Fender bass it broke the professor's heart. I am either a drummer or a bassist. Gotta have that rhythm and gotta feel that groove and that is all there is to it.

You know that band member that doesn't get laid? Yep, the bassist! :D

Jk, bass is fun, I jammed with one not long ago and I was having so much fun with it. I can see myself adding a bass to my guitar collection in the near future.

have you ever thought about visiting the Fender bass forums? You can learn a ton over there.

Fear not, Mike. Instrumental orientation has no bearing on your participation on this particular Forum. You can feel comfortable coming out here. 8)
