I thought I would share this info with anyone on the board who may have a leather strap.I have been meaning to condition my leather guitar strap which I have had for close to 20 years as it seemed to have lost its luster and feels as though its really dry.I found this product called leather therapy and they have all kinds of washes, conditioners, restorers, finishes. They have a whole line of fine products.Anyhow...I have no affiliation to them whatsoever, just a happy customer .I just though I would share my findings. Here are a couple pics .One is as I was doing it (you can see where its really wet and sheeny directly under the bottle and where it was dry to the far left) and the other is after it soaked in well. Its kind of hard to tell from the before pic but this stuff really works good.My strap was dull and dry and now its much softer and looks great.

I will check out that Lexol.I am trying to find a good product that I can use on multiple leather items I have, as I am a leather junkie. The leather therapy I ran across I was happy with, but am always looking for something better to try out.I know that the picture I posted didn't really do justice but my strap was dull and dry and that stuff really softened it up and brought back some life into it.Thanks bluesky

I find the leather furniture cleaner sheets that you can buy at most big retail stores like Walmart and especially the ones geared to automotive products such as Canadian Tire and its U.S. counterparts to be ideal for cleaning guitar straps etc.Spray leather automotive upholstery cleaner is what I've found to be the best.If you are lucky enough to be living in horse country, saddle and harness shops are the best source for leather treatment products such as saddle soap and specific leather cleaner/preservatives.

I use Saddle Soap. It works well.

The entire Lexol leather care line. I mistakenly posted only the conditioner link. I have used their cleaning and conditioner products for years on my cars and guitar straps with excellent results.

Re leather cleaners: A few years ago I took one of my old vintage leather bomber jackets out for winter wear after being poked away in a basement closet since the previous winter. When I took the jacket out I noticed that some of the black leather had faded or the dye had worn off.I took a couple of leather upholstery cleaner/restorer sheets and gave it a good going over then I took some black shoe polish paste and gave the faded and worn parts a good polishing. After letting it set and cure into the jacket for a few days I gave the jacket another treatment with a cleaner sheet and it looked like it did the day it was bought......relic-ing doesn't look good on leather clothing.

Lexol is an excellent product. Can't go wrong with it. Equally good is the leather treatment BMW markets under their own name at their auto dealerships.
