I found a schematic online for the orginal Sola Sound Tone Bender and built it from scratch, made the layout, soldered the components and wires, drilled and painted the enclosure and done.

Here are some demos

Thanks all...oh I forgot to post some gut shot....I did the layout and used a stripboard to put all the capacitors, resistors and transistors on.

From this schematic:

I then breadboarded it to hear and test how it would sound.

I liked how it sounded so I decided to make a layout, organize where to components will go.

Then putting it all together, soldering and wiring.

Then Finish, a replica of a 1965 Sola Sound Tone Bender, the fuzz you heard Jeff Beck was playing in YardBirds.

Great stuff, sounds great! Rush eh? what was it? working man? anyway, great work. Liked the second clip a lot too. The fuzz and it sounded like a bit of delay as well. Good. 8)

Thanks!! I just ordered a bunch of germanium transistors and will be making more of these pedals. Putting it all together is the easy part, but sorting out transistors to tweak the fuzz is very time consuming. This partiucular tone bender model is extremely sensitive to transistor gain and leakage, must match these transistors.....very much like matching tubes.

Way cool. 8)

Now you need to build a Marshall clone for the pedal to drive.

I preferred the tone of the 2nd demo. The reverb with the tone bender worked for me.

Good job.
