So I am thinking of Trading my Blues Deluxe in for a acoustasonic 100. I was hoping guitar center or sam ash would do a straight trade since my deluxe is worth more. its mint.
I just got a Gibson J-45 and am going to do small gigs and open mics with it so I wanted to switch amps? Do you think I could do a straight trade, and is it a good move?

Letting go of a Fender tube amp is just a bad idea.

A new Blues Deluxe Reissue (I'm assuming your amp is new and therefore the Mexican made Reissue, otherwise your amp would be over 15 years old) sells for around $770. Best case, GC will sell your amp for around $600 and give you half of that. A new Acoustasonic 100 sells for about $400. Do the math.

But then again, if GC would accept the trade, they would make better profit. So it wouldn't be completely out of the question.

On a side note, Jeffsc83, have you ever tried Fishman amps? They are great, and in my opinion would be perfect for what you are looking for.

Have you ever sold or traded anything with GC? Their only concern is maximizing their profit which means stiffing you on a trade or sale.

No, I haven't. We don't have GC where I live. All I'm saying is that it might be worth a shot. I've traded with local stores, and they have always been good, although maybe that is not the case with GC.

I would agree with you on that,...I had a Blues Jr. years ago and it was part of the trade with a Tele for a Martin DM acoustic,...wish I still had the Blues Jr.,...great little tube amp.
I'd keep the Blues Deluxe, though! In another month I am hoping to have my Candle Apple Red Strat and Blues Deluxe RI amp,...man I can't wait to get playing again,...miss it so darn much!

I was recently in the market for a Fender HRD or BDR... I also recently traded an amp to GC. It was an amp that I took in trade along with $200 cash for a guitar I had on CL for $300... the owner of the amp was trying to sell it on CL for $300 but was afraid my guitar would be gone by the time he sold it. I took the trade thinking I would at least get $100 for it at GC and thus make the $300 I was asking for my guitar. Nope, I got $80.

You will not get more than $250 - $300 trade credit for a BDR from GC I can just about promise you... and that assumes very clean condish. Here in St. Louis BDRs and HRDs are selling frequently on Craigslist for $400 OBO. GC is asking $500 for used Hot Rod Deville's. GC will give you 10% off whatever you trade it in for, but that is not in addition to any sales/coupons they have going on, which is always. GC will do three things... 1. plug it in and see if it works 2. use their internal search engine to see what other GCs around the country are asking for the same used item 3. do an eBay search of your item and look at the "recently sold" list. They will then tell you that they are going to price it at a certain point and offer you 50% - 60% of that price. If you accept and go back to the store in a few days... you will almost always see that they have actually priced your item for more than they told you they would!

Also, personally and JMHO... I wouldn't let go of a BD or BDR! I really wanted one but ended up getting an even trade deal on a Peavey Delta Blues 210 for the Fender Power Chorus red knob I previously had (and which GC offered a whopping $110 for!) Love the Peavey too though!

I am of the opinion that a Blues Deluxe Re-issue, if that is what you own, is easily replaceable whether new or used and I wouldn't sweat selling it at all. They're everywhere. On the other hand if you have an original Blues Deluxe and you like it (some people don't like them) then I would think twice before selling it since they're not making them anymore and they're not as easily available as a re-issue. As for acoustic amps, the smaller Fender amps are as good or better than pretty much any other entry level acoustic amp I've tried. I tried quite a number of acoustic amps in a larger size before I finally settled on my Genz Benz but that's a 300 watt amp and is in a different league and price range than a 100 watt Fender.

No matter how you choose to proceed it would be good to remember that no music shop would ever do that deal as a straight across trade. There always has to be money involved or they normally won't go for it unless the deal is really lopsided in their favour and I mean really lopsided, like ... they make twice as much profit as they would by selling it without a trade.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Save your money to buy a new acoustic amp and keep the Blues Deluxe. Or offer it for a trade on Craigslist. You'll do better on CL than you ever will trading a retail guitar shop. But I recommend keeping the Blue Deluxe...

I never liked the Acoustisonic Series for acoustic work. I like the Fishman amps much better. That's just mr though.
