It's still a work in progress that obviously needs a whole lot of work. This was recorded with Garage Band app and I used my 3 guitars. The tone is I guess terrible because I'm using the Garage Band models, but I made my own bassline with the touch bass and the drums are the in-app smart drums.

I'd like to get some feedback to see if to continue working on it or just scrap it! All feedback good and bad is much appreciated!

Very cool.

I actually liked the intro. I'm into blues 99.999% but I still LOVE and have a great appreciation for Dream Theater and that kind of metal genre. It sounded very much like DT. My reccomendation would be to a) turn it down and b) slow it down, but thats just me.

Second part diverged from the genre I like but still sounded alright. It's good that you didn't rush things and kept it simple. I tend to play super fast blues and have bad timing, bad phrasing, etc. so it was good and I could tell you were a decent player. Near the end of the second part some of the solo notes were off and then it went off-time with the drum track. I also couldn't hear the drum track for the major portion of the song but I'm sure these are all things you're aware of.

The ending on acoustic came in too quickly after the metal part. A fade out/ quiet build up would have been much nicer. I liked the ending second best. The very end could have used a fade out too.

Nice first recording brotha, keep it up :)

I liked it too, I think it has potential. I liked the rhythmic groove once the distorted part began, however I felt the lead guitar ended too abruptly, I could have listened to you jam more or do some lead riffing. It kind of reminded me of post-rock bands like Explosions in the Sky, although I don't listen to much of that. All in all, a respectable job.

I truly messed up the change to the acoustic part, just realized that now, it was a mistake when editing the tracks but it's very fixable. The "solo" will probably get scrapped since it was almost an improv on a Em pentatonic. There will be other parts that will go before the acoustic part, I still have to come up with a chorus and a bridge. But for now that's what I've been messing with for a few weeks now. Really appreciate the feedback man.

Thanks! I recorded this weeks ago and I've been debating since then if to just put it out there. I really appreciate the feedback!

Ans not just the lead ends too abruptly, I think I need to work on that change from the clean intro to the distorted rhythm, and definitely put that acoustic part elsewhere. The solo needs a whole lot of work that's for sure!

Man, don't stop, now that you've got your feet wet. The middle section reminded me of San Francisco music from the sixties and early seventies!

I'd like to produce you! 8)

What? You're too nice man. I'm more motivated now to keep working and polishing this. :)

Oh SteelyRay I forgot to mention that Dream Theater (along with Porcupine Tree, Opeth, and Pink Floyd) is my main inspiration for music. John Petrucci is the guitar player that made me pick up a guitar and learn, even though I'm a million years behind him, I'm deeply inspired by him. :)

Rudorama, I also forgot to mention that 70's hard rock/metal is part of the sound I'm shooting for. I feel very accomplished to see you picked up on that!

Keep on going. I had no problem enjoying it. You'll get smoother. Good job. Better than the "comes out of a tube" music typical of today. Standard studio production is about as creative as a bean burrito from taqo smell.

I also enjoyed it. You have an understanding of how to build a good song structure. I understand that you wanted something heavy to contrast with the intro but if it were me I think I would change the tone you chose for that middle part. I'd use overdrive rather than fuzz and not as much of it and perhaps just a little bit of chorus or 'verb or even delay. Something to make it more open sounding and just a bit wetter. The dry sounding, highly compressed Randy Rhoads thing doesn't go well with the intro or outro ... but that's just my opinion. Other than that I don't think I would change a thing.

Also, I didn't notice the acoustic transition being all that terribly clumsy. It wouldn't take much to fix that. Don't "fret" about it.

Nice work.

Thanks again for the feedback guys! I'm just glad to know that it's worth it to keep working on it. :)

About the pickups, those are Fender's version of the Gretsch Filtertrons which Fender calls "Fidelitron".

Dude, seriously, amazing. The transitions, the dynamics, everything. I love sudden, random changes, so the change into the acoustic part was perfect. Reminded me alot of Alice In Chains. Very nice, keep working!

Thanks!! And thank you for your comment on my soundcloud! I tried to reply, but somehow it's not working, so I'll paste my reply to you here.

Thanks! This is obviously a work in progress, hard to call this prog when it's less than 3 minutes long! I'm currently working on a chorus and a heavy section with a heavy bridge/breakdown and then the acoustic part will kick in on the last minute or two. I was also thinking of playing a clean solo on the acoustic part. I'm not looking to compose a 15 minute epic here, but I'm shooting for 8-10 minutes. Again, thanks for the kind words!

Very cool... here's my reaction play by play

Slightly out of tune a couple bars in
Wait a second, that bass sounds cool
Harsh change up but I like it
Simple and effective variation
Here comes the lead
Got distracted and forgot what I was listening to - true fact
Awoken by the abrupt lead ending
Realized I fully expected an epic fade out from the crescendo because my mind had
accepted that I was listening to a studio recording
Had to go back and listen again
Big Props for doing just enough
Clean ending sounds tuned, very nice
