Which Machine Head Designs do you prefer. Not the brands, just the basic design, In-line tuners, or split line tuners?

I like the in-line for easier tuning, and there are no bottom tuners to bump into things.

In line.

My friend who plays an acoustic has the tuners on either side and always tunes them in different directions. Every time I want to retune his acoustic, it gets confusing xD

The In-lines eliminate this IMHO.

in lines are preferable, but my airline is split and i've gotten pretty used to it. Also helps that the tuners are wilkinsons and very very smooth... the only other guitar i had with split tuners was an old harmony.... god it was awful to try to tune the bottom strings...or top... whichever, i always get confused. ;)

My neck through active is 2+2. All the rest are in line. I prefer in line.

4-in-line for a 4-string and 4+1 for a 5-string.

This topic deserves a poll.

Split, snake-head, call it what you will. Don't like the aesthetics of in-line. One of the reasons, just one, Fender basses did not catch my eye. My ear is another story. Now that I have a Tele and a MP Jaguar, I am open to a Fender bass one day. There are a few other things about Fender bass design that ruled them out for me. No need to mention them.
