Some of us don't need that reiteration, Doc. That one's seared into the memory. Amazing what a loyal customer you have remained even after that debacle. But others, I'm sure, would be eye-wateringly fascinated to hear the story...Cheers - C[/quote]

Years ago, stage presence had a different calling. You were dressed, your were polished, and so were your guitars. Neat and pretty. My '58 Strat was nearly eleven years old and had some dings I wanted removed. I sent it out to California to be refinished, via an authorized Fender service center. It was returned in the more enhanced 3-tone sunburst we are all now familiar with. (If you want some idea of how it went out, have a look at the '58 CS in alainlafrance's collection). About 15 years ago I sought to have it appraised, possibly for sale. To make a long story short, the body was NOT REFINISHED, it was REPLACED with a '64 body. I had two reputable vintage guitar experts independently examine the guitar and came to the same conclusion.

I started playing guitar when I was 11. I thought it was cool, but I wasn't very serious. My dad did buy me my own guitar soon after I started, but I just fiddled around. When I turned 14 I heard Stevie Ray Vaughan for the first time. I was floored! I really dug in on practicing & my dad helped me get a more serious guitar and amp. SRV had such an impact on me and I learned so much that year that when I was 15 I played in my first band.
