In England, in the beginning of the sixties, Hank B Marvin was the man who first sparked my interest. Later to be followed by Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Pete Townsend and, well, I was hooked and from there a veritable host of luminaries followed and long may they continue feeding dreams to the dreamers.

I think if we're all honest with ourselves, we should all accept the fact that here's where it began for most of us (born! in the late 70's early 80's)

Enjoy!

A friend in a band that I was in (when I was 16)........gave me an old beaten up guitar that could barely play. It got me interesting in trying to play a guitar, so I saved up money from odd jobs, and bought myself an epiphone accoustic. I had no one around that would buy me a guitar, so I just bought it myself.

It was both The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins.

When I was 7, my parents split and my Dad moved away. So I would travel to my dad's hometown to visit him every summer. He would come and pick us up, and then take us back home. He would always have good music on in the car during that 9-hour drive. I remember hearing the Chili's song 'Scar Tissue' very early on. Years later, I'm 13, and I'm beginning to take an interest in music (BAD music!). So I search through all of his CDs and listen to some, just to see what they sound like. I thought, "I feel like I heard this a long time ago...!" So I sort of fell completely in love with the Chilis and the Pumpkins. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is still my favorite record.

Billy Corgan became my biggest hero, so I decided to play guitar like he does. I loved it immediately, and got awesome feedback from my teacher.

Never heard of it. Guess I was too old by then. Might as well add the Banana Splits.

In the mid 60's I was inspired by a guy named Bob Dylan. There were other "folkies" as well, like Peter, Paul and Mary, Woody (as well as Arlo) Guthrie, the Mommas and the Pappas, just to name a few. I also was, (and still am), in love with surf music - ah the Beach Boys, Dick Dale etc. So anyhow, I wanted a guitar real bad for Christmas. What did I get? A Ukelele! I played that for a year until I finally got my first nylon stringed acoustic (which I still have) the next Christmas.

My first Instrument, however, was a harmonica I'd gotten for Christmas years earlier because I liked the sound of the "Harmonicats" on the radio. Bet not many of you have heard of them!

My Strat, I wanted for about 30 years before I finally got it. What a great instrument to play and hear!
