Sorry to be the bearer of bad news again but I read this morning of the passing of Phil Kubicki (day before yesterday). Phil as you may now is reknown in our community for if nothing else being the one who built George Harrison's Rosewood Tele and the similarly designed Strat intended for Hendrix.
I corresponded with him several years ago but only got to talk with him once. He seemed to be a nice guy and was extremely helpful and informative.

One of his most famous designs was the X Factor played by Stuart Hamm.

Rest easy, Mr. Kubicki. :(

"Though his focus was on acoustic guitars and the Coronado semi-acoustic line, Kubicki built a rosewood-bodied Telecaster that was given to George Harrison and used to record the Beatles’ “Let It Be,” as well as custom guitars for Buck Owens, Don Rich, and others. Nine years later, he moved to Santa Barbara and established Philip Kubicki Technology, which built acoustic guitars, custom electric guitars, bodies, necks, and mini-guitars. Among them was the famous baseball-bat guitar, Slugger, used by John Fogerty on tour after his single, ”Centerfield,” became a huge hit."

He was certainly a gifted luthier and the rosewood Strats (I believe there were 2 originally) and Teles were among his greatest accomplishments,it's sad to see another brilliant talent gone.

Phil Kubicki did more to revolutionize bass electronics at Fender than anyone from 1963 until 1984. The active stacked bass tone circuits he innovated to this day are called "Kubicki Tone Circuits."

Used on many Fender basses from the 1989-1994 era!
