I bought an American Standard less than 2 weeks before this promotion began. I returned to the store last weekend for my courtesy set-up and asked whether they would honor the promotional price. The salesman told me the only way he could do it would be if I returned the guitar and bought a new one. That didn't seem honest, as it would mean someone else would go in and buy something thinking it was brand new when it would in fact be used. Any other retailer I know of would honor a new price so close to the sale. I did not want to argue the point as it was very busy in there, but I wonder if this is a Fender policy or a store policy or if the sales guy just couldn't be bothered.

This whole thing is a dastardly plot to incite G.A.S. in the masses. Same thing happened last year when I got a beautiful brownburst, maple Streat for Christmas. I got it for the same price that it's on sale for now.

you know how well the sale worked? I was heavily G.A.S.S.ing for a new BASS amp and just got so worked up, ended up with the shiny neck, MIM, which is a beauty.

Brad, a bassist? I doubt it, he can communicate eloquently for numerous paragraphs without rambling or losing his train of thought.

Now in brotherdave's case, he's doing very well on his medication.

Now, King, don't get upset. It is a proven fact that bass guitarists can't go on for..... uh, what was I saying? Oh, never mind.

I'll step just outside of the boundaries of Forum policy by suggesting that you go to http://www.KingsofLastCall.com to check out the bass player. :!:

Why would that be out of policy? Went there, all it did was play a song, no bass player, the band was rather goo.

What is their return policy? You should have at least been able to return your guitar and re-purchase it right then and there. Your guitar store is scamming you into paying too much. I wouldn't tolerate it if I were you!

GC not only honored the Spring Break sale price on my American Special that I had purchased the Sunday before... but they gave me the discount I had gotten the Sunday before on top of it!

One never knows. Of course, certainly anything we can do to ensure the current program is a success will undoubtedly cause us to want to reapply the concept in the future to other lines. So ... maybe buy a few guitars for your friends? Just kidding. :D

Man, that's a bummer - that's one downside of programs of this nature as if you just purchased an axe you end up feeling a bit burnt which obviously isn't a feeling we like to have associated with any instrument purchase. If you're unable to work this one out on your own, just send me a PM and I'll get you hooked up with the equivalent in Fender swag and/or parts.

Ah yes...so I'll be 'sit'in here on the bank, 'jes watch'in the river flow' wait'in on the Custom Shop lines. [Can't say I'll be looking like Gandalf The White by then,'cuz I'm real close in that department. Rather...I just might have lost ALL my hair!]. BTW...I was turning your CD whilst out and about today. Still a topper in my book :!:

Thanks for the compliment! That particular band is now defunct, unfortunately. Have been looking for a suitable alternative lately but the Phoenix area tends to be pretty darned spotty as far as meaningful musical opportunities are concerned!

Just for the record, this American Standard is amazing. All I did was tune to pitch out of the box, floating trem and all, and it's perfectly setup.
It's also way heavier than my American special and almost as heavy as my LP.
Thanks again Fender!
