hello,

I am a new beginner on guitar. About close to a month now. I've been learning some riffs on blues.
I did take piano lessons when I was a kid.
Other interests at the time, drew me away from musical instuments.
I bought the album In-A Gadda-Da-Vida when it first came out.
I have a Mustang I amp.
I am learning the song In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida on my guitar.
I did use to play it on my Slingerland drum set when I was a teen.
I cannot get the right fuzz effect on my guitar for this song.
Where can I get, or what do I need to play this song in the right style of sound?

TY

D.

Start out with a Mosrite Ventures guitar, a Vox Super-Beatle amp, and probably a Vox Tone Bender fuzz pedal, from 1968. Iron Butterfly kicked azz.

Mosrite guitar, Mosrite Fuzzrite fuzz box, high capacitance curly cords and several Vox SuperBeatle amps. As I recall that was I.B. guitar rig.

Heh!

You guys! :P

That might be how Dolores would nail the exact sound, but its quite an expensive proposal for a newbie, no? Could anyone suggest something a little more affordable, perhaps? Something that will at least get close to the sound she's on about? I'm not familiar with the song, so cannot help in that regard

A buddy of mine used to get a pretty good approximation of the In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida guitar tone with a Tele and a Traynor Custom Reverb with an old Maestro fuzz box. But I imagine that any good single coil guitar and solid state amp would do the trick,or even a good modelling amp put on a Vox setting.Any of the current fuzz boxes that emulate the old 60s fuzz boxes such as those made by Fulltone,Danelectro and Electro Harmonix could do the trick.A Proco Ratt reissue would be a good choice too.Sometimes you can pick up old fuzz boxes in pawn shops and stores that deal in vintage and used gear. I got myself a fabulous Tim's Own Fuzzer Buzzer circa 1967 in the repair shop of a guitar store, they were going to throw it out because they figured that it wasn't worth soldering back on the 2 connections that had given out. When I got it fixed it sounded like the fuzz that Jimmy Page used on Donovan's "Hurdy Gurdy Man" or that The Rugbies used on their one hit "You I".

I found this one searching Amazon last night.
I don't want to spend more than $100- for everything, and I really don't want to buy from the UK, as I see many from there.
http://www.amazon.com/Electro-Harmonix- ... s=fuzz+box
I see you also have it on your list.
For the money, I was thinking about this one.

OK, so what else do I need for cable hook-ups???

I'm thinking maybe a battery instead of an electrical hook-up, as some outlets here give a buzz (not fuzz) sometimes.
Thx everyone for your suggestions.

Or just find yourself one of the 1971 Mosrite BG-1000 Ventures' Model amps that has the Fuzz-Rite circuit built right into it...

... along with tremolo, vibrato and reverb. Four channels - two for guitar and two for bass and two big 15" original Jensen's to push out that 100 watts!

Anyone remember the film they used the song in? in the climactic end sequence? Come on you must know this! Tell you what, Will Graham was the lead characters name, that's a clue.
