I have suggested this many times before but please FENDER get the ok from Wilko before he passes away,if you have never heard of Wilko you have missed out big tme check him on you tube or Dr Feelgoods first albumn Down by the jetty.

If you have heard of him you will know what an amazing player and character he is and he has played his last shows for his fans as he has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.(what an inspiration) he last wish was to play in the clubs for his fans...what a legend,so please before its too late at least give Wilko the chance to see the money go to his family or a worthy charity..........Naturally it would have to be black with a red scratchplate 'so the men dont see the blood' as he would say....

p.s dont make it a custom shop model the average person cant afford, i imagine Wilko would REALLY hate that..

RESPECT TO WILKO

Ah, yes indeed: respect. Especially for the way he's been handling his cancer - a true hero.

For those as don't know, a little taste of a very alternative 1970s:

The spring-loaded guitarist! That's what those curly guitar leads did for a guy's stage craft. :D

By the way, can't quite see, is that an HH amp he's using? Anyone of my vintage remember those...?

Anyhow. Wilko, we salute you.

Cheers - C

The amp he`s using in the video could be a H|H IC100 or IC100S combo. Great amps. If you can still get one of these used and in playing condition you`re lucky.
This is a nice video of Wilko rocking everyone`s socks off.

Well, I feel dumber than a box of hammers. I've never even heard of Wilko Johnson (or Dr. Feelgood) and judging from the few little videos I've watched thus far, I would spin this stuff regularly.

Cool proto-punk stuff...I like. 8)

Yet again, y'all have bradened my horizons. Thank you!

Hey to screamin armadillos glad you like it,you got it exactly - proto punk, joe strummer, steve jones and johnny lydon all said 'its down to wilko, while all the pub rockers in london and essex were getting tanked up on beer Wilko was literally 'speeding' around the stage beating the crap out of a 62 tele with no plectrum..........

You know the most wonderful thing about this unsung legend is that for the last 30 years he's played small local pubs and clubs all round the world cause he loves to play for the normal working man,not some huge venue where you might as well purchased a dvd and charge £250 a ticket.

He has been given months to live and played 6 gigs in the uk for his fans at £17.50 a ticket, that was his last wish.....now that is absolutley class..i met him a few times and i can tell you :D ,that to me is a true guitar hero...........FENDER MAKE A MEXICAN WILKO TELE NOW AND GIVE HIM THE CHANCE TO KNOW ABOUT IT BEFORE HE PASSES PLEASE VOTE!!!!!!!!

I heard a great interview with him a couple of months ago. He said he'd been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, which is one of the most savage ones. Chemo might give him two or three extra months at most, but at a big physical cost. He said he prefered not to take it and instead stay on his feet long enough to do those few farewell gigs. It was to be just three at the time of that interview, so it's good he's felt up to extending it to six.

What I admired most was the interviewer asked him how he was feeling about the whole thing. He said his wife had died eight years ago and to this day he still cries when he thinks about her. But so far he hasn't shed a tear for himself: he said he walks down the street and the world just seems such a special, glowing place to him.

For sure it won't all be like that, but I so respect his attitude and style.

Good luck, Wilko.

Cheers - C

Saw Dr Feelgood live a long time ago, they were the support group to Hawkwind if I remember rightly, not what anyone was expecting, and didn't go down too well to begin with, everyone remembered Wilko though style all his own far as I know ( the guy can't keep still ) had a great front man too in Lee
Best wishes Wilko
