cut it when i was 24. kept it high and tight until i turned 41, then just decided to grow it long again. i'll be 42 in a couple of months. it's almost down to my shoulders. i figured sence everybody is all into short hair i'd let mine get long again. besides who's gona stop me. after all i got a head full of hair. no m.p.b. in my family. so i'm in sort of a rebelious stage i guess. long live rock n roll.

8 yrs. Military Academy in the '60s, 4 yrs. College ROTC, 8 yrs. NAVY... Never had much opportunity for long hair.

Though I did once have the Commandant of the School (West Point, Korea (2 tours), Vietnam (2 tours), full Bird Col.) sneak up behind me one day and say: "Goddamn it Lighnin MN, if you're not going to get that hair cut, can't you at least push it up under your cover..??" My reply: "But Sir, it is pushed up under my cover..." And I was the Brigade XO (Lt. Col.) - 2nd in command of the school.

I was always getting 'gigged' for my hair. In fact, a week before graduation I was called before the Commandant who congratulated me for having set the record having accumulated more gigs than anyone in the school's 120 year history - 1,028 in all. One gig = 1 hour work detail or detention and since there was fewer than 1,028 hrs. left 'til graduation, they threatened not to give me a diploma, said I'd have to come back for Summer School to work them off. But, I was the class Valedictorian, so they couldn't make it stick.

Later, after the service, when I went back to Grad school, I went a little crazy, but then had to join the corporate ranks and so another shorter haircut, though not as short as before - to the collar, middle ear. I've worn it the same way since, though I did gray a little prematurely - all gray/silver now at 58.

I am fortunate that the men in my family live to about 100 avg. and all die with their hair !

So, I have that going for me... :D :D

cheers!

not since about 2008... started thinning up front and looked kinda weird, so i cut it all off and a year or so later decided to grow a goatee instead... making up for it i guess. :) this was just before the haircut.

The barbers at Ft. Leonard Wood took mine when I arrived for basic training when I was drafted in '69. I pretty much maintained a conservative profile ever since, even after retiring from the service in '93. It's been my observation that hair-heads with tats and nipple rings don't get the six-figure-a-year jobs.

That was about as long as mine got. That was taken about a year and 2 months ago. A couple of months after that was taken, I got it trimmed down to my chin level, kinda. Been like that since.

Well, it's much shorter now then at one time, but still longer then most guys my age here in Central Wisconsin! My wife keeps asking me if I'm gonna cut it now that it's going gray, nope, might actually grow it longer then.

This was last summer, Squier Musicmaster in action.

I am with Arjay on this one...except it was the barbers at Lackland AFB TX that took mine, and after 28 years of service, you kind of get used to it. When I retired in 2010 I just kept the hair pretty much the same...but I did grow a nice goatee...I refer to it as my "Freedom Patch"!

I would have.... and my santa clause beard but the little lady won't have any of it! I had dreads for a spell before we met... I trust that she wouldn't have given me the time of day back then. I'm happy to be looking a little more respectable these days... she's worth it!
