I just played a guitar that is easily one of the top 3 sounding guitars I've ever heard-let alone played.Forum member and buddy of mine,Blinkers just dropped by with a 2011 Vintage Hotrod '52 Tele with the Butterscotch Blonde finish.Even though I own a really sweet Tele and have played many dozens of them over the past 45 years,I have never played one as sweet and powerful as this puppy. The Seymour Duncan neck mini humbucker is absolutely addictive,I was playing Jimi's" Redhouse", "Lover Man" and "Killing Floor" and it absolutely slew me.Using just the neck pickup can create an endless variety of incredible tones by just rolling on or off a bit of tone.Amazingly I played it through my little Vox Mini-3 on the Blackface Twin setting with some tape echo setting too.I have to somehow swing getting this guitar because to let it go would pain me as much as letting a mint '64 Firebird VII go in the mid 70s.I promised the Missus no more guitars unless I earn the money gigging or giving lessons or if I save it, so putting it on the plastic is out of the question. He only wants $1000 for it so now I'm wondering which bit of gear I could sell to be able to swing it,I could easily get that much for my Vox AD-120-VTH and the 412-BN Vox cabinet or for my 1969 Bassman head or my vertical input 1983 Marshall JCM-800-2204 head, I don't really want to part with any of them either but that guitar is too good to let go-it really is one of the 3 best guitars that I ever heard......does anyone know how much a kidney is going for these days?

I just got rid of one of those. I didn't get on with it very well so I traded it for a SG 61 ri. I didn't like the neck.

I hope that you get things worked out. You can find and play many guitars that are good, but to find that special one that just fits you......well that doesn't happen very often.

And please do out and gig with it. Let others hear what you enjoy so much. It doesn't matter if you play at an old folks home.....the local VFW......the hot spots in town......or in front of thousands at a concert.

Good luck to you.

I would if I had a gig these days :)

I let another great guitar go a few weeks ago because it wasn't being gigged. I am, of course, keeping my favourite :)

I only tried it through my little Vox Mini-3 with some delay and set on the Blackface Twin emulation,if it sounded so incredible on that little amp I can just imagine how good it would sound through my AC-15,AD-120-VTH,1969 Bassman,or one of the Marshalls. I gotta get the Missus to come around on this guitar-there are so few absolutely gotta have guitars that come ones way in a lifetime and I've already let 2 pass me by-a mint '61 SG bodied Les Paul Custom with the Vibrola and 3 PAFs that could've been mine for just $450 -I recently saw one going for $30,000 the other one was the aforementioned '64 Gibson Firebird VII that was identical to the one that Brian Jones played on The Ed Sullivan Show and on many concert tours, that was mine for just $400. I got to have this done before someone else gets their hot little hands on it.I asked Blinkers if he's take $2.00 a week for 45 years but he wouldn't go for it.

It's strange but as bad as my hands are and despite the fact that the strings were 3 gauges heavier than my usual strings,I could blaze over that neck like I could've done before my hands became atrophied and that's strange for a Tele,if that's not a sign from Divinity then nothing is.

Ok, tell ya what I'll do. I'll drop that guitar off to you tomorrow evening. You can use it all weekend if you like and play it through all your amps.

I saw you play that tonight and you looked like a kid in a candy store. I can't deprive you from that happiness :)

True to his word Blinkers dropped off the Tele this afternoon-God Bless him,and I've hardly let it out of my hands.I had it going through my AC-15 and it was pure tonal Heaven.I can't believe the sustain in this guitar,I always said that my 1979 ash bodied Strat had the sustain of a Steinway Concert Grand but with not the slighest bit of exaggeration I can say that this Tele sustains much longer than the Strat of any other guitar I've ever played-it's just uncanny how long it can hold a note.

The Missus is starting to see my side of things and realizes what a difference it is to play this guitar.I can play it for a very long time without my hands getting fatigued or stiff.I told her that the guitar feels so perfect that I'm sure that if I went to the Custom Shop and got them to tailor a guitar especially for my hand and arm size, they couldn't get it any better than this.Only 2 other guitars felt this way out of the hundreds that I played-they are my '65 Strat and my 1965 John Lennon Epi Casino. With any luck The Missus will give me her blessing to buy the guitar, she has clearly seen how over the moon I am over it and knows full well that I very rarely get this worked up by a guitar. I'm keeping my fingers crossed-my birthday is next Friday and I hope that the words "Beware the Ides of March" don't apply to to me and she tells me to go for it.
