Cowtown Guitars of Las Vegas Nevada has acquired a 1963 Strat that was once played and owned by Jimi Hendrix. It's Olympic White that has faded to a cream colour and has a rosewood fretboard. The guitar has been strung for right hand play again but from the pic you can just barely see the spot on the bottom horn where a Strap button once was. I know that this doesn't prove anything about Jimi playing it.I imagine that an outfit as reputable as Cowtown Guitars would have absolutely indisputable proof that this guitar actually did belong to Jimi.If I had that kind of money,I wouldn't hesitate for one minute to buy that guitar.I have 3 guitarists who I have idolized since childhood and owe so much to for the inspiration not only in music but their philosophies also had a deep impact on me,these guitarists are Jimi,John Lennon and George Harrison and if I had the money there 2wouldn't be a figure too high to own a guitar that one of them played.

Our Lotto Maxx Jackpot is over $30 million Friday night if I win I'll be on the first flight I can get to Vegas.I guess I'd have a better chance being chosen as the next Pope and I'm not Catholic....lol.

You can check it all out here: http://www.cowtownguitars.com/

BTW: I have a birthday on the 15th of this month just in case anyone has $1.2 million they don't know what to do with....bigger lol.

These things actually sadden me. That's probably quite a nice 1963 Stratocaster right there and it's going to be locked away in a bank vault and never played again. If Hendrix loved his guitars then I doubt that's how he'd want them ending up. Chances are he'd want them to be played. And played HARD. Not locked away in the private collection of some banker who probably can't even play guitar, brought out once a year to impress visiting executives. The whole "celeb guitar" business stinks to high heaven.

If I ever was blessed enough to come into possession of a Hendrix Strat,it would only see a vault at night and when I left the house, otherwise I would be spending the whole of every day playing Jimi's music on it.I know that's what Jimi would want too.I agree that a guitar deserves to be played and the more iconic the guitar the more the joy of playing it should be shared.
