that's how it goes, james.... leave for a few days and come back to new guys welcoming you like you've never been here before.
man, now i want to go back to NY. only time I ever went I was only 10 or so. My dad married a girl from some farm town in upstate NY... I had lots of fun playing in barns, watching demolition derbies, and getting lost in corn fields.... we went into the city and saw the statue of liberty... from the mainland. it was summertime and there were way too many people...it was like a 3 hour wait to get on a ferry... so we just hit a gift shop and went back to the farm. good times.

I hear that VBs open up the low end of a bass a lot. Is that true?

oh boy, did I get some great stuff.

I got a new Bosphorus Gold Series (100% Hand Made) 22" Ride for $160 (normally somewhere in the range of $440)

I got an Agazarian 14" China for $45 brand new.

I got a Tama Fast Clip for $40

I got an SP double braced stand for $40

Then, I got a couple pairs of sticks (Pro Mark 5A-N) and a cymbal bag.

This is a photo of my kit, but with new additions, things are rocky at first. I moved the Alpha and the China over just a few more inches, leaving space for both of my rides. Not a current photo.

That Bosphorus looks sweet man..hand hammered i see.
And ya the Vb beaters great,, i have a 26 inch kick so lows are HUGE. I got a friend who plays with a recording act that turned me on to them.

The Bosphorus is so unique. You can really mellow it out, but then you can immediately jump from that to getting a nice screechy bright tone, even though the mellows are actually on the darker side. The other ride is quite the gem too. It's an 18" Camber from the 70s, and it matches the Alpha and the Bosphorus really well. It's like a deeper Alpha, that's still just as bright with more screechy overtones and a lot more mellow undertones.
