back from NY, highlight was playing a 66 Mosrite through a 56 Fender Tweed.

GC Manhattan.

And I went and saw a lot of sights. Statue of Liberty, my hotel had a perfect view of the Empire State Building, went all over Times SQ, Went to Rudy's, got pizza every day, also, Manny's (Sam Ash) was closed.

Moserites are killer guitars, not only did the Ventures use them but the lead player of Iron Butterfly-Erik Brann- got his heavy unique tone with a "Ventures" style Moserite.I know how bad you must have felt having to leave the store with those sweet toys-some day you'll be able to do something about GAS attacks and buy the toys that you lust over.I had a Pan copy of a Ventures Moserite and even that had deadly tone.

As long as you had a good and memorable time in NY,that's the main thing.

I loved NYC. I want to go back. I feel like I belong there.

And I played it because Johnny Ramone.

Personally I never found NYC that terribly impressive...if anything that danged Lincoln tunnel was REALLY annoying as the hotel the wife and I were staying at was in Jersey. That said, I pretty much grew up with downtown Cleveland so once you've seen one big city...eh...whatever. My Dad used to take me down to the Plain Dealer at E. 18th & Superior when I was a young kid, so I knew all the hookers, dealers, wino's, etc.. NYC was pretty much the exact same thing, just bigger, dirtier, more traffic and more people. Just not something I was really able to get all that excited about.

Cancun Mexico and Honolulu Hawaii...now those were nice 8) .

Peace,
Jim

I grew up (and still live) on the outskirts of Manhattan. My favorite way to get the real full experience is to take the train in, either from Long Island, or Metro-North (Rockland, Westchester, NJ, etc) and take mass transit once you get into the city. If you're a little brave, take a subway. If you're very brave, take the subway at night. If you're a little brave, buy something from a street vendor. If you're very brave, buy food from a street vendor. They sell beer in Penn Station and Grand Central Station. And in both stations, you can find 'Hot & Crispy'. I recommend the scones. One of the best times I had in Manhattan was waiting hours for a train because we missed the last outbound train for the night. It's ugly and stinky, but I still love New York.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it Buxom. :D

I did all those things. Took the Amtrak to Penn, bought a $@!&#* Chinese hat from a vendor in Chinatown, got some great shishkabobs, took the subway through Chinatown back to 33rd and walked 4 blocks to the Affinia, at night.

awesome, that's definitely half the fun. And even that Sam Ash has it's own history, the company was founded in 1924 in Brooklyn and came to 48th street in 1976.
