Hi! I just wanted to let you know that the film “Punk’s Not Dead” is finally available on dvd! The film focuses on the past 30 years of punk rock and the social impact it has shown on everything from the original counter-culture, through its marketable image of today. “Punk’s Not Dead” includes interviews and performances from current stars like Green Day, Good Charlotte and Sum 41; punk staples such as Bad Religion, Pennywise, Rancid and the Casualties; and punk pioneers like the Ramones, The Clash, Sex Pistols Minor Threat, Black Flag and dozens of other great bands! The dvd is now available only at: http://www.punksnotdeadthemovie.com/contest.html and the trailer is available at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17QZHd_u_YQ
If you purchase the dvd on the PND website, you will become eligible to win a
Squier® Mike Dirnt Precision Bass® guitar autographed by Mike Dirnt of Green Day and a one-of-a-kind artist-inspired Fender® acoustic guitar autographed by the members of Rancid!
Enjoy!

Punks not dead, its just become a fashion show that people think you can buy into by shopping at Hot Topic.

Don't get me wrong, I have loved punk since the mid-80s. GBH, Agnostic Front, Agent Orange, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, and Circle Jerks are some of my favorite bands, but punk has become just as much as a fashion show as glam metal was in the late 80s. Back then, if those guys didn't have long hair, then they weren't metal. These days if you don't have tattoos, piercings, and/or hair with a bunch of crap in it, some people won't think you're punk....Anyways....sorry to ramble....

You're not rambling. You're just pointing out that over time a new, rebellious art form will eventually become watered down and mainstream.

Let's face it, Sid Vicious would laugh if what passes for punk today was put forward as punk in 1978. Well, maybe not laugh, more like puke. It was more his style.

Don't cry, over here the punks are playing dancehall and some sort of underground electronic 'record-a-lot-of-sounds-and-mix-it-all-up'-music, during protest  I don't get it, but the lifestyle and political focus is there, so it's nothing to complain about :P

Punk of yesteryear, The Damed, Pistols, Ramones, Banshees etc etc, came from a time where the youth were disaffected, where the marking of a new movement really was a rebellious point. Punk of today can not even begin to experience what it was like in the late 70's, especially in the UK which was affected by bad economy, a dire government, union disoroder etc.

Certainly Green Day are worthy contenders to the crown of today but I agree, Sum 41, nope.
