As a fan of Buddy Holly,...and his song "Maybe Baby" being my favorite of all his songs,...I am just curious as to what amps he used most. I can tell from videos of Buddy that he played Strats mostly, but could never really see what amps he was using. Are there photos of his amps anywhere?

That's what a Strat used to sound like.

Live in the early days An wide Panel pro so maybe 5C5 or 5D5 According to Kenneth Broad of norman petty estate he was using Norman Petty TV front Pro on the recording and early gig . Later we see some Narrow panel comming out he has some bassman and twin also but most of the recording were done with an TV front pro .

He also had an '58 magnatone custom 280 with an true vibrato ( that warble the pitch instead on volume that we can here on buddy's guitar on the appartement tapes and also on smokey joe's cafe

I must have been 17 years old the first time I heard the vibrato in one of those amps. I remember exactly where and when, too. An unbelievable sound. The line has been brought back to life.

...and Billy Gibbons is using them!

Dang, I wish I were rich--I'd have a house just for my amps.
