Hey all I was just watching some music videos on youtube, and I was watching the music video for the song Beyond the Dark Sun By Wintersun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnhdJVh9iIY)

One of the guitarists has a red Fender Telecaster. Its not every day you see a Telecaster in metal so I thought I would share.

You're right, you don't see many Telecasters being played in that kind of music... rock, rock on!

Next thing y' know, Faith Hill will get purple hair and be wearing black leather and chains, rasping out 'music' about cattle diseases.

Calm down, fellers.

You can get a slammin metal sound from HH Telecasters. I had a black one in the mid 90's and that thing brought the thunder.

Yeah^^ I've seen that many times. I think Manson's guitar player has a signature Tele, but with humbuckers. If you put good humbuckers, you can play any kind of high gain music with it.

You could even throw some EMGs on this baby and shred 'til yer eyes bleed...

Yeah John 5 was the only other metal player I could think of that used a tele. He is a pretty good player, but I hate Manson with a passion so I don't hear him that much.

Don't forget about Jim Root from Slipknot/Stone Sour who just got a signature Tele from Fender. In the Fender Frontline 2006 edition, there is a picture of one of Sepultura's guitarists with a Big Block Telecaster. And John 5 has not played with Marylin Manson for quite a few years now, as he is pretty much the guitarist for Rob Zombie. He played on Educated Horses and the Rob Zombie LIVE cd that came out a few months ago, not to mention a John 5 solo cd he put out last year. So these days you can get a John 5 fix without having to deal with Manson...

I love metal and I love Dethklok, but I just don't know what to think about metal at times when one of the best metal Cds of the past year or so is by a cartoon band!

That J5 Triple Tele has some good sounds coming from it.
Three humbucking pickups can do the right noise for sure in
that Tele body.

One of the guitarist from Poison always played teles. But I rarely do see metal players playing them.

I believe you may be referring to Ritchie Kotzen, who supposedly got kicked out after messing with one of the other band members girlfriends or wives, though CC DeVille also had a Tele shaped guitar, I believe it was made by Charvel or BC Rich for him. Also Scott Ian of Anthrax used to play a custom made ESP that had a Tele body, 1 humbucker at the bridge, and a Floyd Rose...

Given the gain available from modern amps, I'd say just about any guitar can do metal just fine.

Cryingstrat, your high-gain modern amp comment conjured up the idea of death metal being possible from a Martin D-28 with a piezo pickup...

...rather strange image.
