Jimi Hendrix at #1, Jeff Beck at #2. Though the greatest guitarist ever may be some guy who sits at home and refuses to play for anybody.

This is a joke right as there is no Vanhalen, SRV or Danny Gatton on the list but Mike McCready? Seriously he would not be in my top 100.

Vai all the way.

Jimi was a sonic innovator for sure but the "best" not so much. He was actually just an above average player if you break down what he was doing. I'm not bagging on the man, he is a bonafide rock legend. I just don't see him as the best guitarist ever.

I'm not voting as my list would be so much different from that. Personally I wouldn't have a member of Pearl Jam before at least another 100 I could name, even though McCready is good and picking Hendrix would just be a little too easy. Sorry dude.

I would go with other and say John 5. He is able to play many styles and use many techniques in a lot of types of music.
The guitarists you have put I would say they were influential but I think the most versatile is John.
After listening to his music from solo stuff and stuff he's done with artists I think this stands out. Using techniques really well in country, bluegrass, jazz, Spanish flamenco, Western swing, shredding, metal, blues, heavy rock and classic rock. There's not many if any players in your list that can do that and pull it off with the same pin-ache as Mr 5.
Although they are all masters at what they do.

A big omission - Stevie Ray Vaughan has my vote.
