In my engineering class I am to research and build an object. For my object I chose to build my own guitar multi-tool. I am just wondering if you all have any thoughts or suggestions regarding my project.

Great idea!
Will it include a string winder, tuner and nail clippers?

a small wire cutter for string ends allen wrenches for truss rod ajustment a lever for lifting a tom bridge so you clould easily turn the height ajustment . another useful thing would be a lever to get under gibson control knobs to help get them loose . they are very brittle on the outer edges. thats just a few .. sounds like your making a new players version of the swiss army knife. best of luck with the project.

Don't forget allen keys for the bridge and truss rod, a philips screw driver for covers and a steel rule for setting pick up heights and action.

Feeler gauges would be nice too

Metric AND imperial Allen keys. Nothing worse than getting a MIJ guitar on the bench and finding you have to go out and buy metric Allen keys for it.

How about a camera linked to image recognition software and an online database of serial numbers and neck stamps to date the guitar accurately?

I don't think a guitar multi-tool would be complete without a bottle opener
