well, storm... your comment resonated deep. i got in touch with one of the craigslist guys and told them i'd take the version 4 TODAY if they still had it. finally decided screw it, ver 4 was amazing when it came out, it's been good enough for tons of famous guitarists for a while now, as were the other 3 versions... and this guy was selling for 90 bucks because he had no power supply.... so after i picked that up at GC i spent a total of 120. saved 80 dollars i can spend on my next pedal...whatever i get obsessed with next.
took a tip from gearmandude (have you seen his vids on youtube..fun stuff) and put scotch tape on the bottom of it, and then put velcro on.... that way the velcro and tape will peel right off when/if i ever need it to... anyway, here's the pic of my board now.

thanks, thanks. I've gotta admit, i've been lurking on gearpages lately and have some serious board envy.... I mean, I love mine because I built it myself, and my design fits me perfectly... but WHY WHY WHY didn't I make it bigger? I was thinking way too small. I'm going to have to build another one soon....

well, when I was building it I had a handfull of smaller pedals, mostly boss stuff. so this board was plenty big and had a little room left over.... but now that I've got my big muff AND a whammy...wow. this thing shrunk i'm pretty sure. I've been doing lots of research... I think my next board will be basically the same, just longer, and with a deeper top so i can fit a second row of smaller pedals up there where the latches are. I'll be sketching things today, maybe start building in the next week or two.
oh, and for you guys that already have a v4 whammy - is it normal that the tone changes slightly when the effect is on but the pedal is all the way up? i mean i know for the left side all the things are up or down, but on the right side , specifically octaves up and down, should the tone be just a slight bit different before you push it down? because mine is... and it was used. so if that's not normal maybe i'm not as happy as i think i am? lol. just curious, i guess. it's awesome either way.
also wanted to note - the patch cables i have are great, they're cheap with molded ends and come in several colors.... i get them from a local shop here in nashville for 2.99 $ a piece. i've done some comparisons with some slightly better cables i have and i can tell NO difference whatsoever.

well, darn. i got a call from sam ash last night that the v5 was in. went and played with it for a minute.... there is a world of difference. i don't NEED it...but I really WANT it. all of the little things i've already picked out about mine that I don't love.... well it answers all the questions, fixes all the problems...sounds amazing. of course I was also playing through a really nice fender twin and a road worn 50s strat.... I'm sure that helped a little. I guess I'll post mine back to CL and see what happens, if I can sell it pretty quick I'll buy the v5.
