Today I traded my Garrison Acoustic for a 2011 Epiphone Casino 61 Reissue with Gibson P90s. Apparently only 1961have been made so they will become a real collector's item in years to come. It comes in a lovely light grey case and a certificate of authenticity.

Congrats Torresfan, the Epiphone Casino reissues are just spectacular guitars in every way.I have a 1965 John Lennon Reissue that is one of the first 50 made and it is by far the most comfortable playing that I own and is tied with my '65 Strat for being my favourite, when I plug it into my AC-15 it sends me right into goosebump territory when I play post 1965 Beatle songs.I have read reviews from guys who own them on the Epi Forum and without exception they are floored by the 1961 Reissues.I imagine that the 1961 probably shares the Gibson P-90s that the 1965 and Revolution Casinos were equipped with-except for the black covers-if that's so then it should sound absolutely incredible through a Vox AC-15 or 30 but if you don't have one of those they also sound great through the Blues Jr. . Any good amp would definitely bring out the tone of it but they really shine on an amp that has a broad well balanced tonal response such as the aforementioned amps or a Twin or DRRI or Princeton etc.

BTW: Garrison guitars are also likely to become pretty valuable in the future,my daughter used to work in the plant with Chris Griffiths-the guy who owned the company and patented the innovative composite material frame that strengthed the guitars. She used to install the necks, tuning gears and the electronics when they started to make guitars for Gibson which I believe may have been the first of the Songwriters series.Anyway apparently from what she has heard is that Chris has no intentions of going back into the guitar building business-not at present anyway. If Chris has in fact packed it in then his guitars with their unique and extremely strong and stable bracing system and pretty well assured to appreciate in value. The Garrison that you had may well have had the neck etc. installed by my daughter if it's one of the latest model ones.

Torresfan...Nice looking Casino, but just because it is one of 1961 made does not mean it will become a collectable guitar. That will depend on many other factors including playability, how the guitar ages, and it's use by someone famous in the future, not to mention it's uniqueness. The collectible market is much too complicated to say with any certainty whether or not the guitar will ever become a collectable one.

Not trying to rain on your parade, it looks like a fine guitar. Play it, enjoy it, take care of it, and worry about it's collectability 20 years from now.

I love mine! It's the tan burst one.

I also have the high-end 1965 Lennon. the 65 Lennon is better, but he 61 is really nice, way better than the standard one. I sold my natural. The Gibson USA P90s they put on the 61 are a vast improvement over the standard casino.

Also the 61 has a bit fatter neck.

although it's basically the same quality as the 61, I'd still like to get the Lennon Inspired natural 'revolution' casino.

That's a beauty. I like the vintage styled tuners. Super cool. I'm GASsing for an Epiphone ES-339 myself. Happy NGD.
