This week I finally saw a Neurologist who has an extremely good reputation. He did an EMG on my hands and forearms and concluded that I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in my right hand..However...there is also strong evidence that Raynauds Syndrome is also present but he also is convinced that there is something else going on that's causing the numbness and pain that is always present. He said that there is absolutely no sign of Carpal Tunnel in my left hand but with that hand too there's a very strong possibility of Raynauds plus the same neuro-muscular condition that I have suspected all along but other "specialists" were trying to deny. The neurologist now has ordered an MRI on my brain and has deemed it urgent which is pretty scarey,I wasn't brave enough to ask him if he suspected something-time will tell.As long as they can come to some kind of diagnosis so that I can play again without cramping and pain and I'm able to restore my fime motor skills in my fingers and hands that have disappeared over the years that this has been plaguing me.

Good Vibes coming to you from Texomaland--hopefully they'll have some sort of treatment or relief coming down the pike!

And I echo the same words of Screamin Armadillo. All the best to you my friend. I know when Jerry Garcia had one of his fingers cut off (by accident) that did not stop him from playing.

Good mojo coming atcha from far away, Derek! Better things in store, let's hope.

BTW: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome I've heard about. But Raynauds Syndrome is new to me. Anything you can tell us about it?

Cheers - C

It's always good when you find a doctor that understands your problems. I hope he's able to successfully treat you. The best of luck to you.

Thanks for all the good wishes and kind words guys It means a lot to me to know that there are so many in my corner.Raynauds is a Syndrome that the medical community is not all together certain what the main cause or causes are.It occurs mostly in the colder climates and basically is vascular in that the blood vessels constrict and limit blood flow to the hand when they come into contact with temperatures that don't seem cold.My hands get bad even by being immersed in room temperature water. With Raynauds an obvious sign is the blanching or whitening of the hands or a blotchiness and it can cause numbness in some parts of the hands such as the finger tips yet other parts such as the palms and wrists could be causing incredible pain.My Accupuncturist suggested that I order a specialized heating pad that has Jade stones all over it that concentrate the infrared heat that the pad emits.Unlike all other heating pads that just heat the top 1/4"-1/2" of flesh, the infrared can penetrate to a depth over 2" causing a much better warming effect. This particular pad has built in safeguards that doesn't allow the heat to build up enough to burn or cause deep tissue damage. They are made by a company called Therasage and the prices are quite reasonable.
