I have recently purchased an American Strat '57 reissue. It did not come with the trademark tweed case, nor do I see it on Fender's website anymore.

Does anyone know if Fender discontinued selling their tweed guitar cases?

I have not seen them in a while .... But I bought a G&G tweed case a couple years ago at Sam Ash.
You can order them, mine is with a Fender tag between the handle.
They are not inexpensive but you need a good case that holds either the Stratocaster or a Telecaster snugly.....

I have a Brown, Black and a travel flight case as well, I usually don't take the tweed case out unless it's to go to a friend's house. Unfortunately tweed gets damaged much easier than the tolex brown silver and black cases, but I do prefer the tweed...

My 50th Ann. 2004 Strat came with a beautiful G&G tweed case and as 53 Magnatone says they aren't as resistant to wear and tear as the vinyl covered cases. If you don't gig or leave your home to jam regularly then a tweed case would be a great accessory for your guitar. If you gig regularly a vinyl or Gortex etc. covered case would be more suitable. One thing that I found out too late was that my cats were really drawn to the tweed case moreso than others,to use it as a scratching block. If you have cats it would be advisable to steer clear of tweed too.

You can still buy G&G tweed and also the Fender Pro Series Tweed cases. The pro series have two pockets with doors one on each side of the neck and the case has a plastic handle instead of leather. It is also made in China. The quality of the case itself is equal or maybe better than the G&G. GC, Music123, Musiciansfriend, carry both.

I love tweed, especially when it's worn out.

My vote for guitar cases still rests with PRS. A couple of years ago I spoke to people at G&G about acquiring a fitted case for Stratocasters constructed after the fashion of the PRS's. A bit pricey, but they said it could be done. In the days of the Strat Plus, Fender equipped them with a fitted case, likely built by SKB. It was a 'violin' style case with a nice name plate reading "Fender Plus". I acquired one along with the purchase of a new '97 American Standard because the dealer did not have a standard case for the guitar. I now keep my '89 Clapton in it.
