Otis "Damon" Harris, a former member of The Temptations who sang on the group's 1972 hit "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone," died today at the age of 62.

Harris joined the group in 1971 and was fired in '75 for 'unprofessional behavior' (late for shows/studio sessions, missed flights, etc.).

Still, his hit earned the group their 2nd Grammy.

R.I.P.

cheers!

Damn, he was pretty young!

I always liked the Temps.

Tragic.

I think he also sang on "Masterpiece" which is one of my favorite recordings of all time. I consider that work to be the "Good Vibrations" of Motown.

I think Damon actually died this past Monday Feb 18th, but it was not made public knowledge until Friday.

Thanks for posting. I saw the Temptations live only once in 1971 at a theater in the round and the Staple Singers were the warm-up. Cleotha Staples had the soothing voice in that group and passed away this passed week as well. I saw the original Temptations lineup that night minus David Ruffin. That concert, from a music talent perspective, is possibly the best concert ever I saw, lol.

R.I.P. Cleotha Staples

Cool !

If your concert was after Jan. '71, then you saw Damon Harris as the 1st Tenor !

cheers!
