Seller didn't seem to use it, why would you? Especially since you don't know what it is. A waste of money IMHO. :)

because i just love everything proco makes? lol. i was searching proco ,looking for rats or cables... found this. was just curious. they sell for 65 new, so... i dunno. thought it might be worth picking up to try to use with my recording set up. maybe clean everything up a bit. but again, i dont really know how to use it. so you're probably right.

Should you need a direct box, you'd be better served by an active one... Behringer makes one for around $30 brand new. I'd pass, especially if you don't have a need for it currently.

A direct box is most often used for bass guitar, keyboards, and/or acoustic/electric guitars equipped with piezo pickups... they send a clean signal straight to the soundboard, bypassing the need for an amp and a microphone in front of the amp on stage. They are also used in recording for the same purpose. Not necessarily something that every musician needs to have in a gig bag, but they do come in handy from time to time... just rarely for a guitarist who isn't using acoustics. I'd pass, and if you ever do need one, buy a new one. Direct boxes also tend to get thrown around into bags, kicked, stepped on, covered in beer, and otherwise abused when used heavily by gigging musicians... that one in particular looks to have seen better days. I'd say you're better off starting out with one that is definitely in top shape, and beating it up yourself, LOL!

Just read your reply above... if you're going to use it for home recording of clean guitars or any instrument I mentioned above, I guess for $15 it wouldn't be too bad a gamble. Best case scenario, you save $50, and worst case, you're out the cost of a case of good beer. Hey, why not? :?

Shoot him an email and offer him $8, see if he'll counter with $10.

"Used 3 times" and "selling unused gear" should answer your question.

Furthermore: what's the use of buying something you don't need?
Wait until you need it or at least until you decide that you'll definitely need it, then buy!
