So why are you still here - why aren't you on your way to the airport? :D

Seriously, it looks totally cool. Whenever you get there, my regards to your uncle! And remember to post pix here...

I've never played them but I have always been interested in trying one of these.

I love Reverend's. The Warhawk is a really cool guitar. I have a Daredevil...

I know right! But a flight from Hawaii to Puerto Rico is an expensive one. It's one of those things I gotta plan with lots of time. But I want to go very soon, maybe later this year. :)

Well known name so far from underground, but Carvin is God's gift to us bass-ackwards left handers. Fender is my #1 by far but people who own Carvins swear by them, absolutely insane quality for the price and made to order. I have a goldtop California single cut / LP clone and it's just soooo nice.

On the lower to mid range but great for the money, Godin/Seagull.

As a youngster I was intrigued by the Vox guitars being made in the '60s. A company called Phantom Guitar Works is making reasonably priced reproductions of them like those below. The real things are too pricey today if you can find one at all. http://www.phantomguitars.com/

We used to have a Mom and Pop store that carried Reverend guitars. I went in and tried them out on occasion. Unfortunately that store closed and there is no Reverend dealer here anymore. I passed on the reverend Warhawk and bought my first Strat instead.

Hi Stratman Steve,Re Vox guitars: Vox guitars (as well as Hagstrom and some Goyas which were in fact rebranded Hagstroms) are among the lower priced-for now-vintage guitars and are a bargain compared to a lot of other vintage guitar brands.Unlike a lot of lower budget guitars these brands were of exceptional quality and Hagstroms and Voxes both sported among the thinnest necks available. The Hagstrom especailly had a unique neck reinforcement system that allowed them to make their necks unbelievably thin and among the most comfortable in the guitar world.Old Voxes often come with great onboard effects such as fuzz, bass and treble boost, electronic tuners, even a palm operated wah wah that used the pot of the famous Vox wah wah pedals.

Some great brands available today are made in Japan copies of well known American brands with some of their hand made instruments costing as much and even more that North American Custom Shop models. Some of these brands are Edwards,Burny,Fresher,Orville,Dillion,Greco and many others. To get a good idea of current Japanese guitar makers look here: http://www.guitarsjapan.com/

Some other great North American etc. alternate brands are: b3 Guitars,Burns,Knaggs, Framus,Fano,D'Angelico,Richmond,Taye,Giffin,Godin,Johan Gustavsson Veillette,Vigier, Worlatron,Bedell,Taylor,Blueridge,Seagull,Simon&Patrick,Recording King,Lag,Rainsong, Composite Acoustics. There are literally thousands of luthiers around today competing for a piece of the market,it's getting to be harder to choose one-of course my first choice is Fender usually.

They look kinda groovey, and I recall Brian Jones played one like the white one (the actual Vox version), but I have read that they are actually really crappy guitars.
