Mid 90's. I was getting in a chat room and needed a name. I was listening to the Aerosmith Nine Lives CD and decided to take three random words from the CD to make a name. Jack, Drag, Bean. I've used it ever since in any forum I join. Don't ask why I have kept using it, because I really have no idea. Suits me I guess.

I had 2 nicknames since I was a kid.My first nickname was Bell which is the first syllable of my surname. All the crowd that I knocked around with, used to shorten a surname to just the first syllable to get the nickname. If your surname was Fitzpatrick, your nickname would be Fitz, and if it was Murphy you'd be called Murph etc. Conversely if your surname had only one syllable it would be lengthened,so if your surname was Brown you were called Browny,or Haynes you'd be Haynesy etc.
My other nickname that has stuck with me since high school was D eye ck or D eye ckie, that was because there 4 guys in my class named Derek and the 4 of us hung around together,so if we were walking along the corridor and someone called out D eye ck all 4 or us would turn around. One of our classmates who was inclined to smoke some herbal remedies to get him through the school day came up with the great idea that we all should be called by a nickname instead so he proposed D eye ck for the 4 of us and it stuck.

BTW:Some people actually thought that my name was Richard because of my nickname and some knew me for quite a long time before they found out my name was Derek. I spelled my nickname with an eye instead of a letter "i" because my nickname refers to a part of the male nether regions in some connotations.I've seen that given name filtered out if someone is refering to a certain Chaney or Tricky D--- Nixon etc. so I wasn't going to take any chances with my post being messed up.

Well, I guess "Smokin' Frets" speaks for itself.

Some people may have wondered about my nickname "Dragondicer" on my music sites!?

It refers to a fantasy collectible dice game called "Dragon Dice", formerly introduced by TSR (Dungeons & Dragons), then shortly provided by Hasbro and then (end of 90s, if I remember correctly) renewed and much improved by SFR.inc in USA.

I was crazy about this game, had collected about 3000 dice and was pretty much involved in their forum.

So, when I was looking for an online name, I asked for permission to use "Dragondicer".
I was kinda "playing with words" when I came up with it.

Somebody who runs is a runner, so I figured somebody who rolls dice could be called a dicer
If it's Dragon Dice he's rollin', he's a dragondicer. 8)

Strange name on purpose.
It took more than 10 years until somebody else came up with that name online and he just appears on one(!) gambling site.

So, wherever I want to register with this name, it's not taken yet! 8) 8)

Now where would someone get Mr. Nylon from? Don't string your bass without them! It's a given name.

I used to make a cartoon as a kid of a tiger wearing a trenchcoat and fedora named Tiger J... even ran the cartoons in the student newspaper for a short time. Figured its as good of a user name as anything!

In high school, I was kind of wild and crazy. One of my friends always used to say I, "Was gone, out of this world". In this context and while hanging out with a large group of friends one day he called me a Martian. Evidently the rest of the group agreed. The name stuck and exponentially became my nickname. As a matter of fact, there were many who never even knew my real name.
