OK, the GAS has been really bad this week (damn you, guitar center and your coupon sales!)

This lil gem is shipping its way to St. Louis from Rancho Cucomonga...

Fender FSR Blacktop Jaguar HH in Blizzard Pearl

Image

Authentic vintage-style Jaguar control knobs on the FSR as opposed to the skirted amp knobs on the standard BT Jags and...

bound rosewood fretboard!

With the hot Alnico 5 hbs, the stopbar tail and the bound fretboard; I am surprised they do not call this the LesPaulocaster! this was an impulse buy and not what I went into the GC to look at... but I sat down and played what is purportedly the LAST new FSR BT Jag HH in Blizzard Pearl that GC has in stock nationwide and loved it! but they already had it marked down as low as they would go. I pulled out the ole smartphone at the last minute and found an identical used one in Rancho Cucomonga for considerably less. From the description of the RC GC Guitar mgr., it sounds like it is in better condition than the abused-by-tweener new Jag that my local store has!

As per usual, it being an FSR, I cannot find a thing about it on the Fender website... another one of Fender's "illegitimate kids!"

That's a nice guitar, the FSR guitars are really distinctive and individual instruments.

Tiger J...which GC is your "Local" one? I am just across the river a bit and really like the one over in Bridgeton...great guys over there and willing to deal! I scored a great 65 Super Reverb in great condition for a mear $1k!

By the way, I am digging the neck on that new score...never had a bound necked Fender. Congrats.

T2Stratman... the Bridgeton GC is closest to me (I live in St. Peters) but I was in GC Crestwood yesterday.

My understanding is that the bound fretboard FSR Blacktop Jags were a very limited run... in fact only 30 even made it out of the US for sale. There were three FSR colors: Blizzard Pearl, Blizzard Frost and Sea Foam Green Pearl (which is the hardest to find.) I think the Blizzard Pearl FSR over at the Crestwood GC is the last new FSR Jag that GC has in stock nationwide and it is clearance priced. They are discontinued now and the "standard" Blacktop Jags do not have binding and have ugly (IMO) skirted amp knobs instead of Jag knobs.

Might want to go check it out if you are interested... PM me and I will tell you the lowest out-the-door price they offered me.

Received my FSR Blacktop Jag today shipped from Rancho Cucamonga CA. Its all goodness EXCEPT that the danged thing has skirted amp control knobs (witch's hats) ala the standard Blacktop series guitars instead of the regular Jaguar knobs which is supposed to be one of the FSR features!

I should have noticed that on the photo but I didn't. Don't know if the former owner switched out the knobs or if it is a factory irregularity from Fender.

No worries though... Dallas from the Rancho Cucamonga GC is taking care of me and getting a set of Jaguar knobs from the Fender factory shipped to my local GC for me. I have received nothing but stellar customer service from those guys at the Rancho Cucamonga store I have been dealing with on this order! If you live down around there... give em a visit!

Nice !

I suspect the FSR designation is color only as are most FSRs, but I could be wrong.

Congrats !

cheers!

FSR Blacktop Jags are supposed to come in one of two special paints, bound fretboard and the standard Jag control knobs. I just can't see the former owner buying this Jag and then acquiring a set of Witch's Hats to make it look more like a standard Blacktop... I bet it was a factory mistake. But it is going to be rectified soon! The skirted amp knobs are just not nearly as attractive and classy!
