In nightclubs, it's not uncommon for exit doors to be locked from the inside to prevent patrons from admitting their friends through the back door.

Not safe. Not smart. But happens frequently.

^^ Why I do not enter venues with this policy, they are still common, although a steel door with a bar latch mechanism solves the problem as well as having a person located at that door all night. That is not an expensive addition but it is actually a requirement.
There's a couple places ( I won't name ) that feature music every weekend and thru the week in the summer, that I know for a fact clear about $20,000 cash in just alcohol sales per night, so ensuring that your venue is safe when at max capacity is well within their means.

However since I live in CT, work in Rhode Island, Providence / Warwick, I can attest that it is not a good idea to bring up the subject of Great White and thereby the Station Fire.
I drive by the site at least once a week, so do thousands of people a day since it is on a major secondary road artery into Warwick. Memorial displays are still prevalent and religiously tended and replaced. You can think of this as R.I.'s own smaller scale 9/11 ....
It is very much a sensitive issue, still in the courts as far as the victims survivors are concerned and let's face it, it still isn't resolved.

I still listen to Great White every so often, but I have rarely if at all heard any of their songs on the popular rock stations in either Rhode Island or Connecticut. I would not advise calling in a request, prior to the fire Great White was on the radio just about everyday.
