The east coast of the US just has a decent snowfall, I made a time lapse when I got home from work  :

This was shot with Nikon D5000 using the Interval Timer. The timer was set to take a picture every 5 minutes.

Cute, but that's only about half the snow we got in our last two snowstorms here in Iowa this winter.

Now when I lived in northern Minnesota for the better part of 30 years... THAT was SNOW!

I'll see if I can find some pictures...

Yesterday we were supposed to get the tail end of the storms that were hitting New England and they were forecasting as much as 2' of snow in some areas,we only got about 10" but even that small amount played havoc with the roads as the high winds caused major drifting and white-out conditions.I had to go out in the middle of it to pick up a prescription I had forgot to get on Friday and had to drive over 1 mile of our unplowed road because our lane is so remote it's one of the last places in town to be plowed.A 4X4 is pretty well a necessity in our area for anyone who needs to travel regardless of the weather and where both my wife and I have health issues wereally need one in case a trip to Emerg. has to be made in the midst of a storm.

Today we are getting a break from the cold with a temp of +5C which translates to about 40F whereas on Thursday night we had a record breaking low of -20C which equates to about -3F.My daughter phoned from Labrador this afternoon saying that they too are getting some relief from the cold today,it's "only" -18 C which is about -3F,where all week the temps have been aroung -35 to -40C and that's without the windchill factor.

My old stomping grounds on LI [Commack] saw 29 inches. At this writing it is sunny and 75 degrees. I am NOT green with envy. It is doubtful that we will ever see those snowfalls here...but you've already had one of our hurricanes. The one that didn't have any use for us. :?

ZZDoc, you can always come visit, but don't bring your hurricanes! Plenty of cold and wet to go around. This morning we have a candy-coating of ice over everything, fun for driving!

Here's the last snow time lapse I made in 2011, these are just plain fun:

oh not bad at all, the point of this is to do a time lapse. If we ever get a good sized storm again, you can be sure I'll get that one too. The last decent sized snow storm I remember was when I was still living in Long Island, some time in the early to mid 90's.

January 1996, most likely.
