I know there's a (SoundCloud Thread), so I thought why not a (ReverbNation Thread) too. This is the official (Fender Lounge - ReverbNation Thread), if you have a RN account, share your music here.

Well, it just so happens I have a new song on my ReverbNation page, “Don’t Give Up”. I think I may have been giving advice to myself …let’s hope I listen!

I signed up for reverbnation and let them have my paypal information for when people download a song I have up. When I woke up this morning, I noticed a $20 charge from reverbnation on my paypal account email notification. Apparently, I was signed up for a subscription to their pro account level? I'm pretty good about remembering things, so I know that I didn't ever knowingly subscribe to any free trial of anything. I immediately unsubscribed and now I'm faced with trying to contact them for my money back. I think they were at best very deceptive, and at worst stole from me. I mean, on one hand it's only $20. But on the other, that's almost two and half hours of work at my job. Never, ever give them your billing information. There's a good chance they might abuse it.

My old band used to book gigs with reverbnation. Either we didn't get paid, or we paid to play (I didn't know we were actually paying to play places at the time). Now that I actually go and get gigs myself, I've found it isn't very hard to find gigs that pay around $100 per person. Anyway, lessons learned and reverbnation sucks. (Or at least, it has for me.)

Here's my page. It's going to be deleted as soon as the Play Crossroads contest is over, I don't have any use for companies taking money from behind my back. /end rant

I'm there, too. No bad experiences yet other than that the charts suck!

It's not a matter of being good or being liked to get in the charts. It's about how active you are on the site. (as it is with SoundClick and many others).

However, it's as good as any other indie music site to get your stuff out to the people.

If you already know my SoundClick page, there won't be anything new for you at reverbnation other than me being more active there than I am on my other sites.

Very interesting music MC.

I haven't had any negative experience with RN yet.

Thanks for the compliment.
"Interesting" is a compliment, I'm guessing?
If not, let me just go on thinking it is, just the same.

I don't pay for any of their services there and have noticed that the "free" offers
to join contest or promotions and what not are actually not free.
It says there is no fee to enter many of them, but when you try to submit your
song(s), it will inform you you must have their promo package deal.
Most of the promotions are gimics or chances for bands to perform someplace, etc..

So.... I actually came to the forum today to see what the general opinion of reverbnation is. Looks like I should be wary based on what I'm reading.

Is it necessary to link a reverbnation account to facebook? Seems like it is.

I'm looking for the best "community" of reviewers and artists. Any other suggestions?

I do have a Soundclick account, but can't really understand their community.

My dad ordered a cheap bracelet (play jewelry) for my niece. Anyway, he paid the 5 dollars and received it a few weeks later. He thought it was safe because it was through Amazon. Then, after 14 more days they charged his account for 100 dollars. He contacted them and they said the five dollars was to rent/try it for 2 weeks and because he kept it they charged him for it. This was cheap plastic junk jewelry. He had the charge reviewed and reversed at the bank. Then they hit his account 30 days later for the same amount trying to sneak the charge through. He had that charge reversed and changed all his account numbers. It seems more and more that people are doing sneaky type business hoping for the charge to go unnoticed. I would never do that kind of thing to people (hiding the fine print). And I think it's legal because he received an item. Sad.
