Clapton, SRV, BB King, Miles Davis, Coltrane, Leo Fender (ok, maybe I'm pushing it there, he wasn't really a musician), Les Paul, the Stones, the Beatles, Hendrix, and I wanna say John Mayer, but I just don't know... :?

I think everyone is being very narrow minded here, in the way that only artists from the 20th century to now are appearing. I'm not a fan of older music (ie. classical), but with that in mind, that music is the foundation for the music now, so should be considered to be remembered.
I know this is only a thread for personal opinions, and we are not making a fender music time capsule (yet!), but I thought I'd bring this point up.

....And anyways, maybe current/past music will become very unpopular in the future and no music personalities will be remembered at all?....maybe Earth will be under martial law, and music will be banned?....Who knows?!

Just wanted to add The Who and Pink Floyd
Neil Young and Queen is missing as well, I think

Might loose my head for this, but, perhaps Pearl Jam is qualified to get on the list?

Only older/classical/pre-20th century acts, I can think of are Mozart, Beethoven and Edward Elgar

I really wonder why some are forgetting that there actually was music being made before 1964.

I'm sure of the classical composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and Vivaldi will be remembered forever. Let's also not forget jazz cats like Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Wes Montgomery. They'll also never be forgotten...

Thread-starter's thoughts...

...there have not been all that many recommendations for or thoughts on composers and artists of Vaudeville, ragtime, big band, show tunes, pop-lounge-easy listening and modern-orchestral.

Interesting.
