I'm not exactly sure what I could do, but I've got this TKL bass case. It was given to me by the same lovely family that blessed me with a halfstack. Most of the time, I don't want my guitar shaking around in the case, so I have to roll up hand towels and hope for the best. Are there any better solutions some of you crafty folk have come up with? I don't have the money for a new case right now.

You can get a case from MF for around 60 bucks, plus they are having an accesory sale. I got mine for 40 bucks ... maybe check the ebay or do a web search. However you did say you wanted to adjust that case, try a large piece of styrofoam then cut it down to size and use double sided tape to hold it in there.

That's a bass case, Jim.
That's why it's so sloppy.
You prolly knew that but just in case ....
Like Gomania says, an SK case comes pretty cheap and they're not too bad.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

An arts & craft store may have some styroform you could use (then perhaps cover with felt?). None of which should cost much at all. The styrofoam would be very easy to cut and shape into the proper sizes you need.

I know, life's a b*tch when you're on a budget! :(

what campbell said, that's exactly what i did for my first case back in high school. found a beat up (but rather well put together) old bass case for like 30 bucks, got some floral foam (the real soft green kind) and some nice felt material that matched the existing insides of the case (terrible cat puke green) , traced my strat, cut pieces, wrapped in felt - i used gorilla glue , just a thin coat....between the material and foam. it worked great. took it to south dakota and back in that case, never had an issue...other than it being heavy as all hell. the good thing about a larger case is you can use the extra room to make a storage compartment, that's what i did. kept all my little guitar goodies in there.
i have another bass case right now i'm planning to do the same with if i ever get around to buying materials. when i do, i'll take pics and post them. good luck!

Some high density foam (sponge) would probably work best, and be a lot less messy than styrofoam. You need a piece for the body end of the case, so you can but the body up against the storage compartment. This will allow the headstock to clear the compartment on the other side. Then you can cut a groove in another bit to hold the neck.
The foam could be covered in fabric, but as a quick, cheap solution, the bare foam will be fine.
Goodonya ...Mark.

Yea, I know, but it's TKL (great quality) and I got it for free. (even better.)

Also, Jim was my grandpa. I'm Jay/James.

This is probably what I'm thinking. I have a large, foam pillow stuffed in my closet. Might break out a knife and go for it.

Just remember to cut away from yourself!

Every time my wife cuts something she slice her hand or her finger open.

No matter how many times I tell her to cut away from herself! :!:

You probably know this but I figured it wouldn't hurt to say it! 8)

Why not try to trade for a guitar case? If it's good quality, it shouldn't be too hard.

It's good quality, but it was heavily gigged by the previous owner. It was used, a lot. but it wasn't abused. The tolex is peeling in one area and the foam on the inside is worn, also the tolex has some stains on it. Let's hope they aren't DNA...

But if the guitar is loose inside the case and it also looks like the neck has a pressure point at the nut region. You are asking for a broken Tele.

Do you walk around in shoes two sizes too big :?: :?

Trade or sell the case in exchange for a proper case, there has to be someone in the DC area that has a Tele case for sale or trade .

I doubt I'll get anything, but I posted to CL.

I have the same issue with my tele. Because its a short scale squier, it bounces around inside its case.. So what I do is wrap up some guitar straps and put them in either side of the guitar and on the bottomnto give it some stability in the case.

The shop didn't seem to have a small electric guitar case for it so I had to take what was avail to me at the time.
