Speaking of ukes, I have a product to share with you guys (and gals), just because I love it so much and felt like sharing. Have you guys tried this?:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/folk-tra ... ele-outfit.

It is a really nice little instrument.

1. It is physically GORGEOUS. The photo on the website is "cartoonish" and does not even come close to doing it justice. It is very "heavy" and shiny. I have (or my daughter has) the cherry sunburst model, and it seems to be the same build quality as an Epi guitar. Comes with the same case candy, even a wall size poster of all the Epi guitars, basses, banjos, etc. This is not the place to slam Epi as opposed to a Gibson or whatever. The thing is seriously well built for a $99 instrument. I was pleasantly shocked at how nice the build quality it.

2. The sound, plugged in. It is amazing. Use whatever amp/pedal rig you use with your guitar. I just have a Fender Mustang 4 solid state. The thing can scream on high gain settings. I can't really play uke, but someone who could could use this thing on stage. It's a ton of fun. I was pleasantly shocked at the sound too -- the pickups are pretty dang hot.

2A. The sound acoustic is slightly less impressive because of the painted body and lacquer. Less resonnance. But it's decent enough and the point of this thing would be to plug it in IMO!!!

3. If you don't believe my last sentence, check out recent vids of Fionna Apple on tour. Her guitarists sometimes plays an electric uke and gets all kinds of neat sounds.

I guess I'm sharing this for my own benefit. I want the product to be successful and not discontinued. In case my young kids bang theirs up, I want to be able to buy one for myself some day in the future.

Anyone else have one of these?

Looks nice !

I prefer a traditional design and a Tenor Uke, IMHO, just feels better to play and more range than a Soprano.

Epi has a good rep, but I've heard from several Uke players (2 of whom have this Uke) that you really have to replace the nut with a Bone one and add Aquila Nygut strings for this Uke to really shine.

cheers!

If you're happy with it, then that's all that matters.

I was considering the Epi Les Paul uke but went with another brand. In fact I bought both a tenor and concert. I like the tenor a lot better acoustic and like the concert better electric. Anyway, where are the volume and tone controls on the Epi? I can't find any reference to them.
