the other day i heard " the leader of the band" by dan fogelberg on the radio for the first time in years. having lost my dad at christmas time, it really hit home for me. my wife could see me trying to hold back tears, while i tried to sing the last part.

to me, this is why music is best without video. your mind can imagine things, and you can take what you want from the tune-sometimes happy, sometimes sad. i still sit at home and put on the cd's, enjoy a beverage, and let my mind wander.......

I'm with you on this. I like to work on things in my basement (bass-ment) while I have music going the whole time. The other day I was organizing Christmas "stuff" so that it would take up less room.

The soundtrack for this project was provided by Mumford and sons, Jeff Beck, Elmore James, Edie Brickell, the Kinks, Concrete blonde and Bobby Darin. In other words, it was all over the map. Good music is good music, it needsno other catagorization. And it should be able to take you places with each different cut.

phreddybee, my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I too enjoy music listening, I had forgotten about this song, a good one, thanks for reminding me.

Music has always been a huge and necessary part of my life. Many times in my life when I was going through a particularly hard time,I could depend on music to make things better by either taking me away from what was troubling me even for a short while or I might even find comfort in a beautiful melody or be able to better deal with a problem by listening to the message in the lyrics of a particular song.Music is the most important part of my life aside from my family.

This video captures everything I love about music. I don't understand the words and there isn't a guitar anywhere near it.

I generally don't talk that much, I don't laugh at most humour, I try to relate to people, I try to get them to understand me. I seem to be incapable of expressing that I'm having a good time. I think I may quite possibly be the most boring person to hang out with in the world. Nothing's physical for me, I live in my head. That's why I love music, cause when words fail to express, when you feel like no one understands you, music understands you. When you feel lonely even though you're with people, music keeps you company.
