Thanks gassage- love it !

I'm not so often here these days, and I just felt bad about this Jimbo polluting a whole bunch of threads here.......

Gilmoury stuff

Cool stuff gassage, how many redundant pedals do you now own in the search for that Gilmour tone, or did you go straight for the Pete Cornish pedals, be interesting to know if you had a board, and what it comprised off, that you regard a good second best to the one you have posted in the pedalboard thread.

In reply: yeah I spent a lot before the Cornish stuff, but once I got that it was a eureka moment.

I don't have one redundant pedal. That board is IT. I can get anything from it.

You can get pretty close. Things I like greatly:

Muffs: Skreddy Lunar or Rat.
OD: Wampler Euphoria or BD2.
Boost/Cleans- EP.
Modulations: take your pick- best vibe is the Mojo, best chorus TC SCF, best flanger is Hartman. CE2 nd BF2 are great.
Delay: on a budget DD2. For more money, the T Rex Replica is superb.

Hope this helps. Compressor is a compressor really- CS2 or Dynacomp.

Absolutely brilliant playing sir. Huge Gilmour fan here so always excited to hear someone pulling it off so swimmingly.

I’ve had Animals and On an Island on a loop in my car and ipod for the commute for months now. Lately the On an Island tone is grabbing me big time. When I get a chance I’ll post my rendition of the Time Solo but that’s a tough act to follow. Nicely done.
:D

Edit:

Uploaded my Time solo

https://soundcloud.com/chont-85/time-solo

Not nearly as good as your stuff but figured since it was in the spirit of the moment I'd throw it up there. I’ve since sold the Boss GT6 I used for that and now have a Fender Mustang amp but haven’t gotten a chance to record with it. I’ve found the Champ model on that thing along with my Rat pedal works well for some early Gilmourish Fuzz if you can believe that. Until I get my Lunar Module and HiWatt that is

Thank you thank you!!

OAI is my favourite tone. It's relatively simple and it's the one I aim for.

The P1 is THE muff for this. Nothing has the rasp like it. However, if any use PM me for delays as I got given all of the settings by Guy Pratt (on a yellow post-it!). Most are very simple.

One thing you should know- on the OAI stuff there was a chorus and flanger in the rig. A Phil Taylor made rack unit which Pete Cornish rebuilt. Now, this little unit had one feature- the ability to put the modulations on the delay trails ONLY and not the original note. So, when you hear the huge clarity of the the Em7 chord on Breathe, and then the vibe kind of sequeing in, that is why the modulation is so wonderfully subtle- the vibe is ONLY on the delay trail repeats. The only unit I know that can do this is a combination of the timeline and mobius together. As it is, I'm selling both as I want another Pete Cornish Delay unit (I sold my last one for £2500 to a guy in Japan...!)

I will listen to Time when I get home- on a train right now and wifi won't support streams. Did you get the slapback delay on the intro bit right too? 125ms 4 repeats, very high mix!

Re DG on a budget- when ready the BDRI is a great amp for all things DG. So is a DRRI, and I had two SF Twins for ages in stereo. Now got a Clapton Twinolux which is great as long as on 40w setting to get enough headroom. RAT doesn't surprise me- I think they're great. Try shoving a GE7 after it to get the tonal tweaks and you'll be very close. Spend more time working on the finger and trem vibrato than buying pedals is my sincere advice, because his tone is in his vibrato and phrasing. Be VERY aggressive.

Wow thanks for those tips

I used to have a Hot Rod Deville but it got stolen. Of course all my gear had to get stolen AFTER I had a wife and kids to support. In a few years I’ll have some cash freed up to replace but since I’m just plinking these days and on serious budget, I’m riding the pony.

My upload of 'Time' is just the solo part… the delay time I had for the intro wasn’t right at all and didn’t care too much for that backing track so I really just used it to test out the fuzz tone I was working on. And I agree, I’m loving how simple yet rich his OAI tone is for sure. Can’t WAIT for the new record. At the risk of turning the soundcloud thread into the Gilmour thread I’ll quit there… I could go on all year about Gilmour as you can probably tell.

Bumping this from the thread graveyard because I've started writing a new tune. Not quite there yet but it's got a nice feel to it, more so than the minor key drones I usually come up with. Needs another section writing. And possibly some lyrics would be nice.

More Soundcloudery, shortened the link due to mildly obscene song title. Just songwriting here, nowhere near a finished track as yet so excuse the dreadful mix.
