Here's a little sample that I currently working on. I am using Audacity on my PC and writing a tribute song to all the Vietnam Vets out there.

https://soundcloud.com/butch-ammon/vietnam-outro

Drums = composed/arranged in Finale Notepad, exported as MIDI, converted to MP3, and uploaded as Track 1 in Audacity.
Rhythm guitar = played live by me (amp mic'd) on Track 2.
Bass guitar = played live by me (amp mic'd) on Track 3.
Trumpet = played live by me into mic (seriously EQ'd to tone it down) on Track 4.
Trombone = played live by me into mic (seriously EQ'd to tone it down) on Track 5.
Lead guitar = played live by me (amp mic'd) and added echo/delay in Audacity on Track 6.

Vocals = not done yet. I need to rehearse the phrasing and syllables to the lyrics that I wrote, before recording them on Track 7.

I wanted to create something "old school" 60's 70's style with a horn section and with a spacey type of Hendrix/Clapton influenced wah-wah guitar solo. The whole piece is 4:23 long, but I did a rough mix down and then chopped it down and made it fade in where the last chorus section would be. Then the horns kick back in and then comes the outro/wah-wah guitar solo.

Someone sent me an email and said to do a search on SoundCloud for "Get Lucky" and I'd be amazed - I did...

500+ tracks, 500+ playlists, 500+ people, and 326 groups found.

Some of the versions are very different and cool. Makes me wonder how many have the HFA license for these?

Just found a cassette tape of Razor's Edge recording raw, unedited songs. This is the band the Maestro Mark Pomerantz founded. These were recorded around 1979 and I do not remember the name of the studio. If you had been to this recording session you might not remember either.

No click track but, lots of "inspiration". I will post two now.

These songs are also available at my reverbnation site and I get points for visitors and listeners. Just click on my reverbnation link.

I've never heard that song. Or that Psy bloke. Or Harlem Shake. Am I missing anything?

I don't know about the music, but it's great for intellectual property lawyers.

Cool ,SK ! Good playing/singing - nice harmonies :D I guess you should have compressed the lead voice a bit more - a bit uneven

Nice job SK. Keep honing your skills. Not too many people could put together a full track like that by themselves. Very impressive.

Wow some really great stuff on this thread. There is a LOT of talented folks here.

Well here goes a contribution from me. This is an original tune me and a couple of fellers at the Audio Post facility I used to work at did. We decided rather than try to do something deep and serious, to go the route of intentionally cheesy and dated which somehow made it easier for us to come up with ideas and lent itself for more than a few laughs along the way. Everything was recorded in the Tech-shop using a DIgi 001 and Garage band but we did manage to do the vocals in the voice over booths. Word of warning, the mix is pretty dreadful and I now work at a major network so Its about impossible to get in one of the Protools rooms to remix so for now I guess I have to live with it. I’d also love to re-record everything proper but I suppose for the resources we had it didn’t come out too horrible.

Anyway, I hope some of you enjoy it and have a laugh. My only regret is we didn’t finish some of the other tunes we had going on. Band drama entered the picture and we weren’t even a real group and 2 songs got left unfinished but I had fun along the way.
