OK... bright, Sunny 6°F here in Minneapolis today - even the proverbial Witch's T*T is warmer !!

ENOUGH of this sh*t !!

Mrs. Lightnin MN has to go to San Juan P.R. on Tues. until Friday for some pre-tournament meetings for the Puerto Rico Open in March (normally she'd be at the Phoenix Open now but due to these meetings, her assistant is handling Phoenix).

So, on a whim (and dipping into our 1 million+ air miles), I'm going to tag along. She'll have meetings sporatically through the day, but we'll be able to spend the evenings together.

The weather forecast for San Juan is 84°F highs and 74°F lows - EVERYDAY !!

The whole thing is being held at the somewhat posh Trump International Golf Club http://www.trump.com/Real_Estate_Portfo ... o_Rico.asp . I might even play a round or two of Golf, a game I used to play but have mostly given up.

The forecast for our return on Friday is a very pleasant 32°F and hopefully we'll be done with the sub-arctic climes until next winter !!

cheers!

I'd rather go to St. Croix but PR is good too!

Don't forget your Chapstick and sunscreen lotion.

Me too, but I can tagalong for just the cost of the plane ticket and we have so many miles due to all my wife's travelling that it costs us nothing.

Booze & Food (and even one of the night's is a reception for all the sponsors, so no $$ that nite either.

cheers!

Yep, my wife is Senior Vice-President Sales & Mktg. for a company which does all the Corporate Catering and Concessions at all the FedEx Cup events along with the Masters, Players, Presidents Cup, Canadian Open, Puerto Rico Open, a tourney in Alcapulco - 57 major PGA Tourneys/year. Mega Bucks Biz to be in ! She's been doing it 16 years now.

They also do several Senior Tour and LPGA events along with the IndyCar Grand Prix of Alabama and a couple USTA (Tennis) events.

My wife travels slightly more than 50% of the year, basically home 2 weeks/gone 2 weeks. This gives me lots of time to restore cars, practice the Guitar and such. We spend so much time apart that we don't have time to get on each others nerves and the homecomings are always great !

Plus, like the Mastercard commercial says: Wife who loves her job... PRICELESS !!

cheers!

Yea... I could get into all the tournaments, but it's my wife's gig and she's workin' it 12 hrs./day so I'd only get in the way.

I do usually go the the IndyCar Alabama Grand Prix in Birmingham though. I get an all access pass incl. Hot Pit Pass. I raced SCCA Comp for several years when I was younger, racing both Formula Fords and Datsun 240Zs. I know the Andretti's and used to know Paul Newman when he was alive and partner in Newman-Haas. Also know Brian Bellardi, team owner for both an IndyCar and Indy Lights team and Bobby Rahal, so I get to mingle with some great racing guys. Besides this, my wife isn't nearly as busy at this event, so we do get some time together.

cheers!

It has been so cold here lately that even Richard Simmons would wear pants.IN the past week we have been hitting record lows with the temp going down to -20C which is below 0 F and no doubt the wind chill probably took it down to near -25 C at least. We had a break from the cold for two days with temps almost up to 10C with lots of rain that took a lot of snow with it but this morning it started snowing again and still is with about 6" of snow down so far.I can't wat for April when we're supposed to go to Cuba-if the bank is nice to us and we don't get nailed by income tax like we did last year...lol.

Thanks !

I have been REALLY fortunate in my life to meet many good people and have many life experiences. I met Paul while racing Datsun 240Zs - Paul raced them too. We became acquaintances and then I volunteered at his Hole in the Wall Camp for terminally ill children a few years running (the co. I worked for required 40 hrs./yr. community service) and we became friends. Met both Mario and Michael when they drove for Newman-Haas, and even met Marco when he was 6 y.o.

A lot of it has to do with my wife and her career and the perks she has. I met my wife when I was running a hotel co. in the '90s and hired her to run one of our hotels. We had no romantic relationship whatever and after 18 mos., I left the company. We met accidentally 2 years later in a bar at DFW, decided to hook up after we both got back in town... the rest is history.

It wasn't all luck though, after school, and the Service, I basically buried myself into my career for 30 years and can now relax a bit.

But I have been very fortunate to have had many of the experiences I've had.

I suspect many forum members can say the same !

cheers!
