I listen mostly to traditional and contemporary christian music, and I am wondering if there are any contemporary Christian music artists using fender instruments,...I am referring to artists such as Brandon Heath,Sanctus Real,Jeremy Camp, and Chris Tomlin,...I don't know if they use Fender or not,but just mentioned them as examples in case some on here are,or are not, familiar with them. My next question is this; Does Fender support this genre of music at all? If not,...they should,as there are a LOT of great artists out there who might be using Fender and we may not even know it! I listen to secular music at times,too,...but mostly Christian music and I hope you all won't pass judgement on me if I listen to both!

Can't think of any genre featuring guitar that isn't going to have Fender (and any other brand of instrument).

Do most religions have their own genre of music? I know Scientology has a jazz band, but I suppose they don't have enough members to warrant a genre. Just curious cause I haven't heard much about Muslim or Jewish bands, etc.

It's been a long time since I've seen any Christian music live, but I do remember Lincoln Brewster using a Strat.

I know that he's not really considered part of the "Christian" Genre, but all of his recent music is very Christian, Jonny Lang uses a Tele, and is amazing.

I should have googled before asking, there are tons of different religious bands. I even came across the Burqa Band!

Google also turned up a "Fender Guitar Artist" called UNDEROATH that is a Christian band

Klowenst, it kinda works both ways too. Some bands get labled a "religious" band due to their use of their faith in their music. Switchfoot would be one.

I know Phil Keaggy still plays a gibson les paul and an epiphone lp. Uses a 60's strat, a zion strat shaped, a parker fly, and olson and bruner acoustics.

I'm still having trouble wrapping my brain around what exactly a 'Christian Artist' is. If you're an artist .... and you're a Christian, does that make you a 'Christian Artist'? So like Eddie Van Halen for example, he's a Christian.

This guy too:

To my mind the only thing that makes a song "Christian" is the lyrics. I don't mean to sound close-minded, but if you play a Christian song while singing and then play it again without singing, there is nothing to insinuate that it is a religious song the second time around.

To think that a guitar would be ill-suited for religious music just sounds ludicrous to me.

Yeah, I agree. There's not really any such thing as "Christian music", really just "Christian lyrics". A lot of people would disagree, but that's my thinking anyway.

Back in the day, Tyler Burkum of Audio Adrenaline used to play some Teles and Jazzmasters. He played Gibsons too though. I've noticed a lot of church musicians playing PRS guitars recently. There's not really one instrument that is the guitar of the genre, what people use is really diverse.
