How often to jazz guitarists play in Drop D?

What tuning is the most common for jazz?

Not very often. I'm sure people do it, but never actually played with anyone who has, or heard a jazz track which demands it.

Standard EADGBE tuning is most popular by far.

Tbh, DD is a horrid tuning. I don't think it would fit in a jazz setting, considering a lot of jazz I hear is kind of bright and jangley.

I guess it has to be done right, but when I think DD, I automatically think Hot Topic bands. *shudder* :shock:
